Chapter 31 The Purple Sapphire Pendant
Caroline almost jumped with joy.
After drinking the spring water, Raven really did become smarter!
Once she settled him down, she checked her storage space. This time, Raven wasn’t as panicked as before.
He sniffed around, grabbed his favorite toy, and lay down in his dog bed to play.
Caroline finally relaxed at this.
She slung on her backpack, pulled a suitcase behind her, and headed to the airport.
When the plane landed in Doestera, it was raining hard.
The rain here was even heavier than in her city.
As soon as she got off the plane, the wind nearly blew her umbrella away.
Her stomach tightened. She prayed that this trip would go smoothly.
If the apocalypse began all of a sudden, flights would be canceled, and she wouldn’t be able to get back.

Still, based on what she remembered from before, the heavy rains would last at least a few more days. That thought calmed her
nerves.
She called for a ride and headed straight to the gemstone trading market. The place was busier than she expected.
People were bargaining loudly. Many were live–streaming with their phones.
Wearing a raincoat, Caroline walked into the market, pressing her hand lightly over the gemstone on her chest–the one connected to her storage space–watching closely for any reaction.
To her surprise, she didn’t even walk far before the gemstone began to vibrate.
The vibration was stronger than ever.
She could almost feel the storage space’s excitement through the pulse.
After testing a few times, she locked her attention on a row of nearby booths. One stall in particular stood out.
The vendor was livestreaming while a few people beside him hyped up his gemstones.
Caroline, who knew a bit about this trade, could tell right away that his stones weren’t great.
She crouched down, sifted through a few pieces, and quickly found what she was looking for.
It was a purple sapphire pendant shaped like a teardrop, wrapped in 14K gold and decorated with tiny diamonds.
It looked simple but beautiful.
Caroline rolled the pendant in her hand for a while. Something about it felt unusual.

Before she even asked the price, the vendor who was live–streaming suddenly rushed over. He snatched the pendant with a grin. “Young girl, you’ve got a sharp eye. This pendant is the treasure of my shop!”
Caroline’s mouth twitched. She had just heard him bragging to his livestream audience earlier. She knew he was exaggerating.
She didn’t bother arguing. Caroline just arrived at the trading market; there were many more vendors selling emeralds.
“How much?” she asked.
The vendor ignored her. Instead, he held up the pendant to his camera and started explaining its “perfect clarity” and “rich color,” clearly trying to show off.
“Oh wow! Even our Queenie wants this pendant? Well then, of course, if you want it, it’s yours!”
Caroline frowned. She instantly understood this vendor was trying to jack up the price.
She looked around and noticed a few people pretending to be customers. Each with the same sly, scheming look in their eyes. It didn’t take a genius to figure out this pendant wasn’t going to be easy to get.
But Caroline wasn’t just anyone. She’d lived through the apocalypse. Little tricks like this didn’t scare her.
Without a word, she started to walk away.
One of the fake customers, a middle–aged woman, grabbed her arm and said, “Hey, leaving already? I think that pendant’s really nice. If you don’t want it, I’ll just buy it myself!”
Caroline smirked coldly. “Go ahead. This is a huge market. I just got here. I’ve got plenty of shopping left.”
The vendor panicked when he saw Caroline genuinely meant it. He quickly put down his phone and dropped the act. “Hey, don’t go! We can talk about the price!”
In the end, Caroline bought the pendant for 5,000 dollars.
It was about the size of her thumb, purple in color, and not very high quality.
The seller had tried to convince her to take it with a 14K gold frame and tiny diamonds, asking for 20,000 dollars, but Caroline shut that down right away. “I just want the stone,” she said. “You can keep all the fancy extras.” That killed his plan instantly.
Once the pendant was in her hands, Caroline didn’t throw it into her storage space.
She had an idea.
Caroline walked into a quiet corner, pulled a pin from her bag, and pricked her finger.
A drop of blood slid down her fingertip and touched the pendant.
It disappeared the moment it touched the surface.
“Just as I thought,” she whispered, her heart racing with excitement.
Instantly, she felt a strange connection–just like the gemstone pendant embedded in her chest. In her mind, a faint image appeared: a small, empty storage space, only a few square yards wide.
A pendant with storage space!

So that’s what it was! No wonder her space pendant had been so restless earlier; this wasn’t an ordinary gemstone.
Caroline’s excitement dimmed for a moment as hesitation crept in.
