Goodbye Saintess (by Edelweiss W.S.) novel Chapter 107

Hera felt weak and regretful. For the first time, she realized she had never truly understood the man she had been married to for five years. He was not some mediocre, unimpressive firefighter. He was an extraordinary man, perhaps even a geniusenough to mentor a business prodigy.

When did this happen? Why had she never known? How could he keep such secrets from her? She was his wife.

If not for the strangers crowding the hall, she would have demanded an explanation on the spot.

Who did he see her as? Did he even see her as his wife?

The thought stung. Hurt gave way to resentment. Today, Sebastian had debuted like a blinding star, the kind that no one could

ignore.

She could already imagine how Astergrad’s business world would fawn over him tomorrow. With his skills and his swiftly expanding network, he could crush the 2.8 milliondollar challenge she had set for him with ease.

And once he did, once he reclaimed his parentshouse, he would move forward with the divorce.

He was so popular with women that it drove her mad. One had even invited him to a meal right in front of her!

Since when have you become so exceptional?she wondered, anxiety twisting in her chest.

She had never felt so unsettled, so threatened. Sebastian was no longer the ordinary man who relied on her and lived under her

thumb.

Even so, her stance remained unchanged: divorce was not an option, no matter what truths about him had come to light.

Yet doubt gnawed at her. Did Sebastian believe she wanted him to stay because she had been dazzled by his newfound status and talents? That would be a terrible misunderstanding.

She feared what he thought of her. Lost in these worries, she barely noticed the CEO inviting him to dinner until the words broke through her daze.

Absolutely not! I will never allow it. Let Sebastian think my motives are shallow if he wants. I will not let anyone steal my husband away, she thought.

Rhea was enough. She would not permit another challenger.

That was why Hera made her declaration. Her identity as Sebastian’s wife was at stake.

She fixed her gaze on him, her eyes clouded with tangled emotions. What would he say to her words? Would he acknowledge her as his wife?

The answer crushed her hopes.

I looked at her calmly as the crowd’s attention shifted back to me. The female CEO from earlier seized on the silence, emboldened.

Is she telling the truth, Mr. Grimwalf?she asked boldly. Are you two married?

Yes. Five years of marriage.

A collective sigh swept through the women. Shoulders slumped in disappointment, and even the bold questioner faltered. If I had been single, they might have stood a chance. They believed themselves capable of outshining Hera on equal ground.

But five years of marriage? Perhaps even children? That kind of bond had weathered storms and built ties too strong for outsiders to break.
