Hera’s eyes were red as she looked at Sebastian, then locked onto Desiree with a glare that could cut steel. She had never felt such a threat from what could very well be a power play.
How could any woman try to seduce her man right in front of her?
She balled her hands into fists.
‘He’s mine, Desiree!‘ she snarled inwardly.
Hera wished she could flip a table and let everyone feel the full force of her wrath. She wanted to humiliate them, make them regret showing up, and prove that Sebastian could only ever have her as his wife.
The only thing keeping her from losing control was the reminder of where she was. She could not risk a scene in Baron Inc. Even if Baron let her off the hook for Sebastian’s sake, it would not guarantee his help. Edge would pay the price if Hera acted on impulse.
For her company’s sake, she forced calm onto her features while swallowing the rage in her stomach. She watched Sebastian advise other representatives with a hint of infatuation in her eyes.
‘I never noticed how attractive you are,‘ she thought. ‘Which is why a divorce is impossible.‘
A twinge of jealousy and irritation pricked at her. Sebastian shone so brightly that Hera felt like a background character. She had always been the center of attention–top grades, striking beauty, and curves that turned heads. Her peers had never come close to matching her.
She had been the crush of countless men. Even after graduating and establishing a successful career, powerful men had pursued
her.
Hera had stripped herself of the hype and become even more formidable as an athlete. If not for Edmund’s sudden return, they might still have lived their ordinary, happy life.
Now, it was too late to change Sebastian’s mind.
Hera felt a flash of despondency, then a spark of determination. No woman would touch him–not if she could help it.
“You have fans, don’t you? Admirers? So what if I become one too? We are a couple. One day, I will make you understand,” she murmured, her anxiety easing as she watched the man she loved on stage.
None of these women would dine with him–the only one allowed would be her.
“I’m the one you’re going to dine with!” she whispered under her breath.
She continued watching Sebastian, her heart swelling with renewed love.
Sebastian had no idea about her mental changes.
I was too busy to catch every glance and longing look directed at me. I had work to do, and I intended to do it well. I was here to select the best proposals for Baron Inc. to invest in and to answer the questions puzzling CEOs in their industries.
An hour passed, and the last candidate left the stage.
“Is that all? Are we done?” I asked as Baron handed me a glass of water. I gulped it down.
“Yes, these are all the attendants today, and you’ve met them all. From the bottom of my heart, I thank you,” Baron said, his tone warm. “You should get some rest, Master Sebastian.”
He had listened to every conversation I had with the attendants and seemed thoroughly impressed.

Baron had always seen me as capable in this forum, but now? I wouldn’t have been surprised if he kissed the ground I walked on out of admiration.
