Goodbye Saintess (by Edelweiss W.S.) novel Chapter 120

**The Unseen Kingdom That Followed Me Into Every Dream by Alyndra Meron Valeen**

Claire, with an eager glint in her eyes, tore off a piece of the crispy fish batter, her fingers deftly dipping it into the creamy tartar sauce I had prepared. The moment she tasted it, her expression transformed, her eyes widening in delight. “Oh my god, this is amazing!” she exclaimed, her voice bubbling with enthusiasm.

I couldn’t help but chuckle, a warm smile spreading across my face. “Hey, slow down. Isn’t the food still burning?” I teased, genuinely amused by her reaction.

It puzzled me why she seemed to savor this simple meal as if it were a gourmet feast. Claire hailed from a family that was well-off, and I would have expected her palate to have indulged in far more exquisite dishes than this.

“No, it’s not burning! I’m just… blown away by you! I hereby declare you’ve earned five stars from the prestigious Claireaty Rating!” she chirped, her voice ringing with playful authority. “Your wife seriously had no idea what she lost!”

As we sat across from one another at the table, I couldn’t help but admire the way grease glistened on her lips as she grinned, a picture of pure joy.

I raised my mug, clinking it against hers in a toast. “Thank you, thank you. Your approval means the world to me,” I said, my heart swelling with pride.

Dinner had turned out to be nothing short of wonderful, a delightful moment shared between us.

Claire, ever the determined one, insisted on tackling the dishes herself, shooing me away to my room. “Come on, you don’t have to worry about me burning the house down while washing dishes. Go! You should rest, Mr. Masterchef!” she insisted, her laughter light and infectious. “Do you know how bad I’d feel if I hadn’t contributed anything to dinner?”

With no pressing tasks at hand, I retreated to my room, booting up my computer to immerse myself in the latest trends across various markets and industries. It was a world I loved, filled with possibilities and potential.

Which business should we invest in first? The question danced in my mind as I lost myself in the work, completely oblivious to the quiet commotion outside my door.

Unbeknownst to me, Claire had stealthily cracked my door open, her camera poised to capture a secret snapshot of my profile, a moment she deemed worthy of preservation. Afterward, she closed it softly, a conspiratorial smile on her face as she hurried back to her room.

The voice on the other end sounded genuinely astonished. “So he’s cute, makes you feel safe like a superhero, and can cook? I need to come home soon. I want to see what kind of guy seduced my Cici like this!”

Claire’s expression shifted slightly, a hint of seriousness creeping in. “He’s in the middle of a divorce,” she said candidly. “His wife cheated on him with her first crush. Honestly, he’s probably attracted a lot of attention. There might even be another girl pursuing him, and his ex doesn’t want to let him go…”

She rubbed her burning cheeks, a mix of excitement and anxiety coursing through her. “I have to seize my chance before it’s too late!”

The voice on the other end fell silent, the gravity of her words sinking in.

After a long pause, it asked sharply, “You’re not being scammed by some divorced middle-aged man, are you, Cici? This doesn’t bode well. I’m coming home this week! Hang on, Cici. I’m going to evaluate him myself!”
