**The Unseen Kingdom That Followed Me Into Every Dream by Alyndra Meron Valeen 123**
Mila was utterly convinced that I would never secure an office in this place. The implication was clear: I couldn’t even shield myself behind the privilege of being a client here. Little did she realize the magnitude of the blunder she had just committed.
Suppressing a chuckle, I cradled the diorama in my hands, its intricate details catching the light. “Alright, let’s revisit our little wager,” I said with a playful smirk. “You promised that if I could orchestrate your manager firing you, you’d eat this diorama. It’s time to honor that promise. Just watch and learn.”
With a flourish, I retrieved the business card that Lucas had handed me earlier, its glossy surface reflecting my determination, and dialed the number inscribed on it.
I had extended countless opportunities for Mila to back down, yet that obstinate woman simply refused to take the hint. Whatever transpired next was entirely on her shoulders.
A fleeting flicker of anxiety crossed Mila’s features, but it vanished almost as quickly as it appeared, replaced by her trademark bravado.
“Do you honestly believe you’re something special just because you can whip out a business card?” she scoffed, her tone dripping with sarcasm.
She was all too familiar with my background. How could a mere firefighter possibly have connections to her manager? To her, it was nothing more than a feeble bluff.
“You foolish oaf with your inflated ego. I can hardly wait to see how this plays out!” she sneered, her confidence still intact.
I concluded the call, fixing her with a gaze that was both calm and precise. “By all means, maintain that attitude when your manager arrives.”
“Oh my God, I feel like I’m going to be sick. This guy seriously thinks he’s some kind of alpha male!” she exclaimed, rolling her eyes dramatically.
I raised three fingers, a silent countdown.
Mila stiffened, her cheeks aflame with embarrassment. “Listen, I can explain—”
“Don’t even think about it, Mila!” David Caprio interjected sharply, his voice cutting through the tension. “You haven’t met your targets this month! How many times do I have to remind you that your work ethic is abysmal? Look at you! Chatting with your friend during work hours! How do you expect to hit your targets like this?!”
Mila blinked, momentarily stunned, as if the words were incomprehensible. “Sorry, what did you just say?”
“I said you’re not permitted to socialize with your friend while at work! If you do it again, there will be serious repercussions!” he warned, casting a quick, incredulous glance in my direction. “There’s no way a guy dressed like that could be a client.”
Something felt amiss. David didn’t seem to recognize me at all. I began to suspect that he wasn’t the person I had called. Could he be another manager entirely?
“Of course, Mr. Caprio! I promise I won’t make that mistake again!” Mila replied hastily, her voice tinged with a desperation that was hard to ignore.
