Goodbye Saintess (by Edelweiss W.S.) novel Chapter 124

**The Unseen Kingdom That Followed Me Into Every Dream by Alyndra Meron Valeen 124**

“But let me clarify something for you, Mr. Caprio,” Mila snapped, her voice sharp enough to cut through the tension in the air. “This man standing here? He is not my friend—not even close. He’s the ex-husband of my best friend, and he’s come here under false pretenses, masquerading as a client just to stir up trouble!”

Her words spilled out like a torrent, each accusation more venomous than the last. “He’s nothing but a worthless oaf, a man who lived off his wife’s hard-earned money! Just recently, he had the audacity to threaten her with divorce, and now he’s here to harass me!” Mila continued, layering her fabrications thickly over me, each lie a dagger aimed directly at my reputation.

David’s face shifted, a flicker of realization igniting in his eyes as he began to connect the dots. His expression hardened, morphing into one of palpable hostility. “So, you’re just here to create chaos?” he asked, his voice low and dangerous.

“Oh, that’s just the tip of the iceberg!” Mila shot back, a smug grin spreading across her face. “He boasted about tricking you with a fake phone call, claiming he’d manipulate you into firing me! Can you believe the delusion? Some people are so wrapped up in their own lies that they actually start to believe them!”

She radiated triumph, a woman who had narrowly escaped disaster and now stood victorious, reveling in her moment of glory. For a fleeting moment, Mila had feared she was cornered, but now, with a mix of relief and vindication, she knew her instincts had been right—it had all been an empty threat.

By sheer coincidence, David had arrived just after Sebastian’s hollow intimidation.

The manager’s eyes narrowed, a look of open contempt etched onto his features. “You really said that? I don’t recall ever befriending a gigolo who survives by leeching off women like a worthless parasite. Don’t you feel any shame?” His voice dripped with disdain, each word a calculated jab.

His lip curled into a sneer that sent a shiver down my spine. “And how dare you harass one of our employees? Let me be clear—I’m warning you. Leave this place now, before I lose my temper. Trust me, you won’t like me when I’m angry. I can have you arrested in a heartbeat.”

My expression darkened, though I was on the verge of laughter. “So this company employs not just one, but two salespeople who think it’s acceptable to disrespect citizens? Is this really the best talent you could find?”

In that moment, clarity washed over me. This was not the man Lucas had arranged for me to meet. Both this supervisor and the other man shared the surname Caprio, but they were not related. This meant the real manager was still on his way, lurking in the shadows.

“Me, on my knees?” I let out a scornful laugh, the sound echoing in the charged atmosphere. “Try to force me, you bitch. Let’s see if you can walk away without ending up on the floor yourself.”

Mila hadn’t anticipated my nonchalant dismissal. “You’re still trying to play the alpha when you’re about to get crushed?!”

Her anger ignited, flames of fury dancing in her eyes. “I want you on the floor! Guards, stop standing around and break his legs! I want Sebastian Grimwald kneeling before me by the end of today!”

David nodded sharply, and the guards advanced, their intentions clear.

Just then, the elevator behind Mila slid open silently, revealing a man in his fifties, a figure who seemed to carry the weight of authority with him.
