He’s an Alpha She doesn’t Care novel Chapter 82

Wynta

“What was weird about Ernesto for you?” Wynta asked as she sipped her coffee, and then just sighed to herself. “Damn, this is some good coffee.” She murmured.

Tallah smiled at her. “Yes, it is,” she nodded. “Mr Miller asked me to go and have lunch with all the CEO’s, his son and he even offered to pick me up and take me to the restaurant.” Tallah was looking right at her now. “You know them way better than I do.”

Wynta raised an eyebrow and then laughed softly. She did know them and what they were like, understood right there in that one sentence what was going on. “Awe ain’t that sweet,” she murmured.

“Why is that sweet?” Tallah questioned.

“Come on Tallah, you’ve got Dwane’s direct number. I doubt he just goes around giving that out, and you had it before your promotion, right?” Wynta asked.

“Mm.” Tallah nodded “But it’s nothing, just harmless flirting. He’s cute and well, why not if he wants to!”

“Oh, he wants to.” Wynta laughed now as she leaned on the table, “And I dare say Edward and his unit just found out he’s dating a human. What do you think they are all thinking?”

“We’re not dating,” Tallah stated with a shake of her head, but she was frowning now and Wynta could see she was thinking about it. She was otherworldly and should understand the implications of an actual Beta in a pack trying to have lunch with her along with his son.

“I’ve never scented him out.” Tallah waved it off after a moment’s thought.

“Hmm, tell me something. You say you’re just like me so without fox, right?” Wynta asked.

“Yes, but a fox will come when it wants to come. We never consider ourselves truly fox-less,” Tallah stated, “I expect she’ll come when she’s ready.”

Wynta thought about that, “Do you ever make fox noises?”

“No, why?” Tallah shook her head.

“Then how do you explain your chirping noise as Dwane carried you, and the way you rubbed your face all over his chest? It was very much what I would consider, and I know that both Jared and Dwane did consider it to be…” Normally, she’d state wolfen thing to do. “A fox thing and not a human thing, I dare say.” Wynta commented.

A chair was suddenly pulled over to their table and a man in a black apron sat down and looked at Tallah. “Have you got a Mate?” he asked directly, looking at her.

Tallah waved it off. “No, I’ve not scented anyone out.” She shook her head.

“Come on,” he stated and tapped his own forehead, and Wynta watched on with fascination as she saw Tallah and this man put their heads together. She watched as he closed his eyes and his head tilted ever so slightly, and they stayed there like that for a few minutes before he leaned back.

Then he half smiled and nodded, got up and walked away. “It can’t be.” She heard Tallah murmur in a kind of hushed tone.

“It could well be,” he stated as he walked through the café heading for the kitchen, likely the chef she thought, “I’ll let your parents know. Wolfen, huh?” He turned and looked right at Wynta as he pushed the door open but didn’t go through, seemed thoughtful to her. “What rank is this wolf her unrealized fox is attracted to?”

“He’s a firstborn Beta to the pack’s current Beta,” Wynta stated. She couldn’t say he was the current Beta heir, because well, technically, he wasn’t. Dwane’s younger sister Hillary was now the Beta Heir because she was Lance’s Beta.

“Hmm, Dwane Miller, you mean.” He nodded and then just walked into the kitchen of the Café and was gone out of sight. But then he leaned through the door and stated, “I thought Jared and his unit were in Europe, when’d they get back?”

Wynta was surprised at just how much this man seemed to know about the Cedar Rapids pack,

“Two moons ago. Came home for a Luna Ceremony.”

“Ah, that’s right. I heard about Lance getting married.” He nodded and walked off.

“Who’s he?” Wynta asked curiously.

“My grandfather.” Tallah murmured, biting her lip a little.

Wynta smiled at her, “He sensed out your fox just now, didn’t he.”

“Yes,” Tallah nodded, “Though I can’t feel her at all.”

She watched Tallah’s eyes glaze over a minute later, and then she was just up and grabbing onto Wynta, “Grandpa, you ass.” She yelled, then looked at Wynta. “Let’s get out of here.” She was suddenly hauling her out of the café and Wynta turned as everyone inside the Café started laughing.

Tallah didn’t let her go at all, dragged her hurriedly down the street and unlocked her car. “Get it, quick.” She murmured and ran round the car to get in the driver’s side, just as Wynta heard Tallah’s name being called.

“Tallah, get your butt back here,” a commanding male voice rang out.

Wynta chuckled softly and got into the car. It was, she thought, Tallah trying to avoid her own father. She could help with that. “Let’s go shopping,” she stated.

Tallah agreed and was roaring off down the street a moment later. Wynta watched as she looked in the review mirror a few times and didn’t relax for 10 solid minutes. “Where are we going?” Wynta asked. She could see they were headed back across the bridge.

“Into the city we can get lost there for a few hours in one of the larger high-end shopping malls,” Tallah muttered.

Wynta nodded, “I’m gonna ditch it, once more, just to annoy Jared and Edward.” She laughed softly.

“Take me with you.” Tallah smiled. “We’ll torment them together, a girls’ weekend away.”

Her phone chimed again, 30 minutes later, and she looked at it and shook her head. Then it rang like a minute later, and she stared at it for a moment and then dismissed it. Five minutes later a new message came through, and Tallah leaned over and looked at it and snorted, “Jared, I see.”

“Yeah, he’s turned into an obsessive fangirl.” She snorted herself as she looked at his text Where are you?’

Tallah chuckled herself, “Got a taste and is addicted, huh.”

Wynta snorted, but then nodded. “I can agree with that, actually.” Though the next text came through, in less than a minute, and she huffed “For crying out loud.” As she read it, and Tallah looked at it and burst out laughing. It read ‘If you don’t text me back, baby. I’ll send out a city-wide search party. You got two minutes.’

“Man, you got yourself a crazy stalker.” Tallah burst out laughing. “Good luck hiding from him.

“Oh, you think it’s funny? Who do you think is standing next to Jared right this second, and will come with him to hunt me down?”

That wiped the smile off Tallah’s face and Wynta nodded. “Yes, Dwane.” she chuckled softly. “My crazy fangirl with bring his best buddy.”

She finally sent a text back. ‘Oh, is my fangirl having withdrawals? I’m fine, out shopping.’

‘Where?’ Jared sent right back.

‘Why do you need to know?’ she asked in return.

Tallah shook her head. “You’re playing with fire, I see.”

“Hmm, I do every day. All he’ll do is punish me in a fun way.” She snorted. “I like it.” she shrugged.

The next text came through from Jared. ‘Because your ex is still here in town, and you’re out without anyone to protect you.’

‘I’m not alone.’ She sent, ‘I’m fine, just doing what I always do. I’m ending the conversation now, she informed him and put her phone away. “Come on, Tallah, that dress looks good. Let’s go try it on.”

“I’ve got a million dresses like it.” she shook her head. “I’m just window shopping.”
