He’s an Alpha She doesn’t Care novel Chapter 83

Wynta

Wynta looked at Tallah as they wandered around and window shopped. They’d only been there about an hour when Tallah came to a standstill. Wynta could see that her nostrils were flared and realized she was picking something up that was likely otherworldly in nature.” What is it?” Wynta asked her simply.

“A full unit in the shopping center,” Tallah responded after a moment, “Not Jared, smells different,” she stated and moved her eyes to Wynta, “Do you know what your ex smells like?”

“They will all have the smell of daffodils about them,” Wynta answered, right as she spied a lingerie store. “Let’s go in there.” She stated, dismissing Tallah’s scenting out of another unit. It didn’t concern her, likely wouldn’t really concern Tallah, considering the woman even now scented like she was human, so no unit would look at her.

Wynta smiled to herself. “It’s time for a little payback of my own.” She chuckled softly as she thought about a devious way just to annoy Jared.

“Huh?” Tallah murmured but let herself be pulled along and into the store at the same time.

Wynta went right to the men’s section and started browsing the items. “What are you doing?” Tallah asked curiously.

“Getting Jared some new underwear.” She grinned and held up a man’s bright pink thong with a little glitter to the band, “What do you think?” she chuckled.

“I don’t think he’ll wear it.” Tallah stared at her, a bit horrified, but then smiled and shook her head as if dismayed, “Tell me, why would you do that?”

Wynta looked from the thong to Tallah, “That man took it upon himself to take away and replace all my suits, with new ones to his liking. I’m just going to return the favor.” She smiled as she chose a dozen thongs of all different colors. She’d seen the boy-leg briefs he normally wore.

“What. So those new clothes you’ve been wearing to the office, Jared bought them?” Tallah was staring at her, more than surprised now.

“Yes, without my permission, payback is now going to be a real pain in the backside.” She snorted and waved them all at Tallah. Then she stopped as she looked at the women’s lingerie and said, “You might want to buy something for Dwane to see you in.” and she pointed out a pale blue silk nightgown that had a split up the side and a bit of lace along the deep v neckline.

“No,” Tallah stated, “I don’t dare buy things like lingerie.” She shook her head.

“Why not?” Wynta asked, walking over to the counter to make her purchase.

“Goddess, my brother would kill me. He’s a wee bit on the controlling side.” She shook her head. “But this,” she pointed to Wynta. “Is going to see you come under fire, and how are you going to get them into Jared’s apartment?”

“I’ve got his door code.” She chuckled and then stopped and looked at Tallah, “You know, I could change Dwane’s and give it to you.”

Talla shook her head. “I’m not looking to be punished, in any way by Dwane, for being inside. his apartment without his consent.”

“I don’t think he’d care, likely smile, then try to sneak into yours at some point.” Wynta chuckled. She was certain that he would.

“Not a good idea at all. I still live in the same apartment as mum and dad.” Tallah shook her head.

“Why?” Wynta asked right back, though something was itching at her now. She looked at Tallah, who’d brushed off what rank she was, recalled the way she’d stated she was the second eldest. Oh, that girl was going to be an Alpha-blooded. Ah! No wonder her grandpa, as she’d called him, had come out and interrupted their conversation, told her he’d let her parents know, asked questions about Dwane, knew who Dwane and Jared were, Lance even, he was the former Alpha to the fox pack.

She looked right at Tallah now with her thoughts all lined up, “You’re second in line to take over your parents’ company, aren’t you?” she asked after only a moment’s thought.

“Yes,” Tallah nodded. “Grandpa is very laid back, I thought talking to you inside his café would be fine. It seems he’s still…” she sighed and dropped it.

“They are all like that with their children or grandchildren. Regardless of retirement or not,” Wynta commented off-handedly, “You know Tallah, you might like being punished by Mr. Dreamy.” Wynta chuckled and collected her bag, smiled at the assistant, and they walked out of the store.

“Are you really going to steal all Jared’s underwear and replace them?” Tallah asked, sounding as if she didn’t believe Wynta would actually do it. “That could see you actually be formally punished.”

“Rogue remember, they can’t. I don’t belong to them, and yep I am going to,” Wynta nodded. Might just collect my suits while I’m there. Just got to find a time he’s not in the apartment, but I am in the complex. Might have to use my trip to physio tomorrow to do it, but,” she shrugged. “I got the patience to wait until the opportune moment.” She chuckled softly, and she did have, she also didn’t think that he’d see this coming either.

“You’re playing with fire, you know.” Tallah shook her head but then chuckled softly herself.

“No, I’m not. After yesterday, there’s nothing he can’t do to me, that he’s not already done, and I’ve enjoyed.” Wynta smiled, and it was true, if he’d not left last night, she’d likely have been dragged into the pack for initiation this morning because she would have agreed to it, to get s*x and she knew it. Thankfully, Jared hadn’t picked up on that himself or he’d likely have pushed it.

“Yep, don’t ever let him fool you, he’s a polished liar.”

“What’d he do to you? Or did he stupidly reject you over not being…” she trailed off, knowing they were in the human world.

“I dumped him. Though we were together a few months prior to the moment I knew what he was, he tried to convince me to sleep with him and his best friend, promised me that he already knew I’d be his wife.”

She saw Tallah’s eyes widen now, “Are you freaking kidding me? That’s against the law. Even in my world you don’t do that.”

“Mm,” she nodded. “I wasn’t so stupid.” She smiled her thanks to the server as she placed an iced coffee in front of each of them.

“Thank the Goddess for your stubbornness. I’d hate to think what would have happened if you’d been suckered into that.”

“The outcome would be the same as now,” Wynta stated, “Because I’d still know it was a lie. I’d still have walked away. Though I dare say I’d have been more pissed off about it than I had been back then, I kind of was just angry and then disappointed. Likely, if he’d convinced me I’d have yelled and screamed at him, before walking away is all.”

“And right now, him hunting you. What would be different?” Tallah asked, “because if it was me, I’d have my brothers tear him a new one.”

Wynta thought about that for a long moment and then shook her head. “Nothing, really.

Likely, I’d just play at being Jared’s girlfriend for real, let Nolan see it is all.” She frowned for a moment and then reached up and touched her neck as she recalled seeing that love bite last night, but then hadn’t thought much about it this morning.

Tallah chuckled, “Oh yes, that is very noticeable. Did you forget it was there? Is that why you never picked up yesterday… Oh my Goddess, you were with Jared all afternoon, you weren’t kidding.”

“Do you think Nolan saw that?” she asked curiously now.

“Yes.” Tallah snorted.
