He’s an Alpha She doesn’t Care novel Chapter 85

Wynta

They were out shopping once more only to have Tallah come to a halt “Jared and his unit are here somewhere.”

“They are going to know I’m here, likely pick it up the moment they walk in the door. How far away are they? I can’t tell things like that,” Wynta asked, knowing that Jared was also going to pick up Nolan and his unit if they were still here, so he was likely to hunt her down as well.

“Hmm… not on this level, but your ex is still here as well,” Tallah stated as she stopped walking at a men’s department store. “My brothers both shop here, I’d better get gifts to calm them.” She muttered.

They were in there browsing the racks when Wynta chuckled at some of the colors. Jared she’d only ever seen wearing white, dark or light blue or black shirts with his suits. She smiled a little deviously and collected a whole bunch of them, one to match every brightly colored thong she’d picked up.

Tallah looked at her with a raised eyebrow, and she shook her head, “You know if you go round that corner there are colored suits.”

That gained her attention, but did she really want to spend that much money? No, she didn’t have unlimited funds. She let it go. “I can’t afford to actually play at his level.” She stated, “A pity though, if I could, I would give him all the same colors as the suits he bought me.”

Tallah looked right at her. “I have unlimited funds… Do you really want to?” a mischievous grin touched her face. “Oh, I would love to see him have to walk into the office in something weird.”

She stood thinking about it. “I don’t know, that’s your money, it’s not right.”

“Hmm, maybe so, but… What he did, put you through hell in the office the other day, and I know everything he said wasn’t true, even though he allowed himself to be humiliated in the office for you, he wasn’t, not really, a blip on his radar,” Tallah grabbed onto her and hauled her way “Forget the shirts,” she grabbed them from her hand and shoved them back on a rack. “I think payback is in order. I can’t get into trouble, I am not like them, just a mere little human.” She smirked at Wynta. “And my dad won’t even check my purchases,” she chuckled, “He doesn’t care. What colors did he buy you and how many?” Tallah asked.

“Hmm, enough for a full week. What you haven’t seen is a baby pink, bright red, like an aqua blue, black, a light grey dress that I think is inappropriate for the office, too… intimate I guess, evening dress more than work for me.”

“Alright, let’s pay the man back.” Tallah grinned at her. “My inner beast, when she comes, will be mischievous. I think it’s time to let that side of me shine too, in prep for her arrival.”

Before Wynta knew it, Tallah had collected six suits; baby pink, baby blue, a pastel purple, a bone color and two darker suits, a deep green and a maroon. They were all formal and suited for the office or a high-end function.

“How do you know what size he is?” Wynta asked.

“That’s easy, he’s the same size as Cam.” Tallah smiled at her.

“Whose Cam?” Wynta asked curiously.

“My oldest brother, you know, the one yelling at me to get my butt back there.” Tallah smiled at her, “All three of them are Jared’s size, actually. Imposing and controlling at times, they love me but are way too protective. I feel smothered sometimes. That’s why I opted to work for Hayes Industries instead of my dad’s shipping company or my mum’s auction house.” She shook her head. “Maybe it’s time to be just like you.”

“Don’t do that if you don’t have to.” Wynta shook her head. As they were all tallied up and the bill came, Wynta gasped. “No, no, no, put them back.”

“Nope, my gift to you, but… do one little thing for me.” Tallah smiled at her now.

“And that would be?” Wynta asked. She didn’t really like being indebted to Alphas and Tallah was just that she now realized.

“Hang out with me a few times a week to keep my brothers at bay,” Tallah asked.

“Hmm, I could do that, but with Nolan here, it might be seen as risky to your family.” She shook her head. “I don’t need more attention. Barely got Kyan’s team off me as of yesterday, and if anything happens I don’t want you getting hurt, not even if it’s just shoved aside to grab me.” Wynta shook her head no.

“Just dinners, I can pass that off as work, and you’re teaching me the ropes for now, and maybe a spa weekend. I know a great place,” Tallah stated, smiling at her. “Come on, I’m also not afraid of Nolan and his men. I got triplet brothers and 16 other siblings. He’ll get his head ripped off if he touches me. So really, what harm could it do? In the long run, you never know Wynta we could be well, you know besties for life.”

Wynta was standing next to Tallah just staring at her, as she realized just what Tallah was implying, if she was Dwane’s Mate, and Wynta and Jared scented each other out, then Tallah would indeed be right there next to her. She’d never really thought about that kind of thing before, because she wasn’t expecting Jared to be anything to her.

“Fine.” She finally nodded. “But don’t count on the Jared and I thing, he’s just trying to seduce me into coming into the company. The minute he does, he’s going back to Europe,” she stated.

Tallah snorted, “Yeah, like I believe that, after that kiss I saw and the words he spoke, the two of you were practically melted all into each other,” Tallah stated and swiped her card. “It wasn’t just some small kiss either went for many minutes, you were both lost in the moment.

“Ha, you got that wrong, I was, but he wasn’t.” Wynta murmured.

“We’ll go put these in my car.”

“Third floor, come on,” she offered, but then stopped at Dwane’s penthouse and looked at Tallah, “You want to go in and roll around on his bed.”

“No.” Tallah laughed.

Wynta shrugged it off, and they moved on. “He’d like it, you know.” She smiled as they rode the elevator down to the third floor, and she let herself into her apartment, having forgotten about all the flowers in there.

Tallah stopped and stared at them. “Please tell me they’re from Jared.” She turned wide eyes on Wynta. “Not your ex.”

“They are. Apparently, this is what a proper apology looks like from an Alpha,” she stated.

“Yeah, I’ve seen my dad and grandpa do this before. When they tick off their Mate, they buy out an entire florist shop. I think there’s more going on here, Wynta, than even you know.”

“Jared is wearing a mating bond band, can only take a Goddess-Gifted. Don’t concern yourself with it.”

“How’s the s*x?” Tallah asked as she watched Wynta hang up Jared’s clothes.

“I don’t know, we’ve never had actual s*x, it’s just him getting all handsy and eating for hours. I don’t actually have to do anything to him, he’s not looking for me to do that with him.”

Tallah raised an eyebrow at her questioningly. “Why no s*x if you’re getting everything else?”

“He’ll only give me that if I say yes to being initiated. That’s the game he’s playing.”

Tallah laughed softly. “Not even I’d say yes to that, for what? A single night of sex.” She sat herself down on the couch. “Enjoy it all while you can.”

“That’s exactly what I’m doing.” Wynta smiled at her, though a part of her last night had wanted more of him, and she knew it. Bloody ached to have all of him.
