He’s an Alpha She doesn’t Care novel Chapter 86

Jared

He stood leaning on the railing of the top floor of the shopping center sipping a coffee. His entire unit were up there just overlooking the shopping center. Wynta was here somewhere, but he didn’t want to intrude on her time, she was used to being out and about alone.

She still had that right to do that, so watching from a distance to keep her safe was alright in his books. She wouldn’t know he was here either unless she saw him or got close enough to sense him out. He’d smelled her on several floors as they themselves had moved about.

But they’d all just stopped and taken up residence to drink coffee and see if they could pinpoint her without coming across her.

That was when he saw Tallah and Wynta headed out across the ground floor, looking to be leaving the shopping center and in a hurry. He saw they were both carrying a heap of shopping, his eyes moved from Wynta to Tallah as she turned and spoke to someone, “You gotta catch me first.” She called out, as she looked up to another floor.

His eyes moved from them to scan the lower floors to see who she was talking too. The man he believed she was looking up at, because he was looking down at her with a slight frown on his face, was tall, muscular and blonde. He had both his hands leaning on the fourth floor railing, as he looked down at her.

That grabbed his attention, he looked as big and imposing as he himself was, and although he’d not heard the man’s words to her, because he’d not been looking or listening for it. It was

clear he was here for Tallah, and she sounded fully amused to his ear, in her response to whatever he’d stated. But then she just grabbed Wynta and was hauling her away.

He returned his eyes to the man down there and found him looking right at Jared, and then they moved along to his unit; that was odd, it was brief, but Jared noticed it. Then the man just stepped back from view. As Jared looked down once more, he saw two guys looking just like the first one headed for the door. He felt Creed breath in trying to pick up anything from them, and he couldn’t pick them as other worldly, but they were it appeared hunting Tallah.

That was curious to him. He wondered about that for a moment before finally turning his eyes to Dwane standing next to him. He was frowning, and Jared smiled a little and teased him just a bit. “Could have some competition.”

“I don’t know, I’m not picking anything up. Girls don’t take on three boyfriends, let alone triplets, so… I don’t think it’s that.” Dwane shook his head. “Likely to be family. Protective brothers, maybe.”

“That or they could be triplet Mates.” Jared murmured softly.

“Why is she running from them then?” Dwane asked right back, but still there was that frown marring his face.

“That one she spoke to looked up, right at me,” Jared mused. “No way he’d know I was paying attention to him and her, I don’t think they’re unlike us.” And he didn’t. “She did make that weird chirping noise you know.”

“So, what she’s just hiding what she is, to work for your father? If she is like us, why do that when she could likely work for her father?” Dwane asked now.

“Who knows, could well be the same reason I went off to Europe with you and the boys?” he shrugged. “But if she is like us, what is she is now the question, and that Dwane, my friend. Also means she knows exactly what you are. Right down to the bloodline and rank.” Jared clapped him on the back.

Dwane just stared at him now, and then he nodded slowly, “Where do you think they’re off to?

He thought about it for only a moment, “Wynta’s apartment, Tallah’s on the run from those three, and she lives at home with her parents right, so she isn’t going home if those three are her brothers, she’s ditching them.” He chuckled softly “Did you see all the clothing bags the two of them were carrying.”

“Hmm, I did and?” Dwane trailed off.

It’s Tallah that’s shopping. Wynta is a scrooge with her money, her wardrobe is barely two dozen outfits outside of work. To shop like that, it means Tallah must also come from money, or by the looks of it, anyway. If she’s like us, a ranked member, I can only imagine.” He chuckled softly. “You’d best dig into her human profile, did you do that or just accept what was on paper.”

“Thought she was human,” Dwane murmured softly. “So no, I didn’t, it looks like I will have to check into her a bit more.” Dwane nodded. “We headed back?”

“Mm, unless you and the boys need anything,” he stated simply, he’d found his missing woman and who she was with. That was all that mattered to him. She was safe and looked to be happy in Tallah’s company. It was nice to see her getting along with others. First Kyan and now Tallah. She wasn’t all rogue all the time, could enjoy other creatures’ company.

They were headed home, and he could already see Dwane was on his phone trying to research out Tallah’s background, something he’d admitted he’d not done, seen no need to seeing as she was human and he’d not scented her out. They weren’t even officially dating or anything, just the occasional flirting was all and the majority of it over texts.

They arrived home, and he asked Chris if Wynta was back. The doorman replied, “Yes, got one of her team with her.”

“Tallah is now the head of her own team,” Jared stated and smiled at him as they got in the elevator. He wouldn’t go and see her. She was home and safe and that was all that mattered to him. He also liked that Tallah was hanging out with her, she was socialising and that was good for her.

They reached his apartment and he watched Dwane just open Jared’s laptop and start working once more. He smiled and sat down. “I think he’s out for the afternoon,” he told Andy and Emerson.

“Looks like it.” they nodded.

“Anything is possible.” Dwane nodded as he sat there thinking about it. “The question is should I just bring it up to her or not?”

“Wait a minute, Dwane… she was drunk on human alcohol the other night. When she made that funny chirping noise at you,” Jared stated.

“If she’s other worldly then she shouldn’t have been… that’s more than odd. She was out cold by the time I put her in my bed, and she barely moved a muscle all night, though she snuck out trying not to wake me, stopped and took a picture of me on her way out.” Dwane smiled a little.

“So… doesn’t have a fox yet?” Jared asked.

“Probably not,” Andy commented. “I hear foxes will come when they come.”

“Maybe she’s running from the family because now with you here her fox is getting ready to come forward,” Emerson stated.

“Might need her Mate to entice her out.” Jared chuckled. “You should hang out with her more, see what happens.”

“She’s currently avoiding me,” Dwane muttered.

“Because she knows who and what you are, the actual significance of your dad asking her to have lunch with everyone in both units. It freaked her out completely. She understood that your own father is looking to see the two of you pair up come the full moon, I dare say.”

“Great and now she’s hanging out with Wynta, went right to Wynta the one person that ducks every full moon out there, could well see her do that with Wynta now.”

Jared chuckled softly. “I’d be willing to bet Wynta, who left early this morning, got a call for a chat from Tallah and Tallah just outed herself to Wynta as well. Foxes are devious, tricky creatures. She and Wynta will get along like a house on fire. As for this full moon, I’ll be in her office the day it sets. It won’t be lost on her, but I’m going to smile at her the whole time.”

“You want her for your Mate?” Andy asked curiously.

“I like her, she’s fun, makes me laugh, among other things.” He nodded.
