Wynta
She’d left the apartment early Monday morning, because she knew Jared was going to be hunting for her, after all that she had done. She’d messaged Tallah about it even, and the woman had sent a bunch of laughing emojis.
‘How’d it go with your brothers and family?’ Wynta had asked.
‘Annoying. Apparently, Cam saw Jared and Dwane in the shopping center watching us. Though he stated they were watching me. Thought that Dwane was keeping tabs on me.’ Tallah sent back. ‘Now dad and grandpa are expecting me to be within scenting range of Dwane come the full moon. They think if I scent him out my fox will finally come.’ Tallah sent ‘I think they’re plotting and planning already. I don’t honestly know what they’ll do. Cunning creatures, if ever there are any… you’re walking? I just parked the car, let’s grab a coffee and hang about to see what Jared turns up in.’
‘Okay, meet you at the Coffee Hub, in like ten.’ Wynta had texted back and smiled to herself.
She was curious herself, though he could have gone and collected his suits from her place, and she wondered if he had. She’d eluded to the fact that none of them were there, but it was possible that he would go and check and see that they actually were.
She saw Tallah smiling at her outside the Coffee Hub. She’d gotten there first and already had coffees in her hands. She held one out to her and chuckled. “Today will be a fun day, I can just feel it.”
“I told him to wear the red thong.” Wynta chuckled and accepted her coffee with a smile, and they headed for the office. She liked knowing another otherworldly creature that wasn’t wolfen, and one that had a good mischief streak just like her own was even better. Edward, she knew, was also going to love Tallah, and if she was mated to Dwane, they’d likely end up with a full fox alliance.
That could see some others paring up, and more fun brought to the pack; she knew he’d like that. They were standing at the traffic lights together, had been now for several crossings, refusing to go across, just waiting for the right moment to go over to the office. It was right in front of them, when Tallah pointed out Jared and his unit getting out of their car, and she stated, “Bummer, just the bone-colored one.”
“The most sensible, I guess,” Wynta answered with a shrug. She couldn’t really expect much more than that. “Though I wondered what color his thong is?” she snorted just a little.
And almost as if he and his unit had heard her, Jared’s head turned, and he looked right at her as his entire unit all burst out laughing. Tallah snorted herself, at their reaction. Though they probably thought it was just over her comment, they didn’t know she could not only hear them, but understood exactly what was going on, that they were wolves.
What their rank was or the game Wynta and Jared were playing with each other, though Wynta had shared the message she’d sent Edward with Tallah on the walk here to the office, and Tallah had laughed about it, and thought it was also amusing that she’d sent it to Edward. The traffic lights changed, and they were allowed to cross the road.
Jared did actually look good in that suit, she had to admit, he likely could pull off anything, having a body like he did, and as long as he didn’t actually care what others thought, and just owned it like she did, his air of nonchalance would see him just look good in anything.
He, from all she could see, had no issue with wearing that suit. She had to bite down on the laugh bubbling up inside of her though, at the thought of him in one of those brightly colored thongs, he saw her clear amusement and narrowed his eyes on her, and she just couldn’t seem to help herself, knowing he would hear her, but to comment to Tallah, “I told him to wear the red one.”
Tallah snorted and spat coffee everywhere, as she walked, and his unit once again laughed. Yes, they were all listening to her and Tallah talk, they obviously knew what was going on. Edward had passed along her message to them, it seemed. She’d flicked Edward a devious little message before leaving this morning.
‘Your son took it upon himself to change my wardrobe last week. As a little payback, I changed his, and stole his underwear, replaced them with glittering thongs.’ And she’d sent a picture of them to him.
She knew Edward would get a hell of a kick out of it, and likely tell his entire unit. It seems he’d gone one step further and told Jared’s unit, and now they were all in the know.
“Morning boys,” she stated as she walked towards them.
“Morning Wynta,” they all smiled at her, fully amused.
She turned her eyes on Jared. “The suit looks good on you,”
“It does.” He nodded without missing a beat as he smiled right at her as if nothing was amiss.
“Hmm, and here I didn’t think… You’d c***k a smile today,” she stated with a knowing smile.
Again, the boys snorted, and she chuckled at the raised eyebrow she got from Jared. Only to have Tallah state, “A pity, I thought he’d think you were a pain in his ass today.” Then they were past him and his unit, and walking inside the building.
Wynta nodded, as much as she didn’t like the woman anymore. If she did get fired, it would still look like she was right. She’d stated if she suddenly got fired it would only prove her accusations right. She didn’t need that getting about.
She sat down at her desk and read all the emails waiting for her, and the memo that had gone out about Jared’s return to the office, and her having forgiven him. Then there was an email from Edward himself, that was attached to her and several others about a meeting with her on the top floor at 0930 regarding the incident that had happened.
She’d sighed to herself as she saw who all the other people were, most were from the marketing department. Something else was going on still, and she didn’t know what it was. She made her way to the meeting along with several others and found Edward and Ernesto sitting there waiting for everyone, along with Dwane and the lady who headed up HR. She felt the tension in the air almost right away with those around her.
She sat when directed to like everyone else and Edward stood and looked at the room and then stated, “Who here wants to go first?”
Wynta frowned, she’d not prepared anything for this meeting and didn’t really understand the question. Kind of looked around the room with a frown and saw many eyes on her, then one stood up and stated, “Wynta, I’m sorry for the comments I made about you and Mr Hayes. It was unprofessional, and I shouldn’t have done so. It won’t happen again.”
She frowned and looked at Edward, “Wait, is this meeting to have all these people apologize?
She asked.
“Yes,” Edward told her, “You’re owed that, it was my arrogant sons doing that caused you trouble, and all these people who know you, work with you and admitted to Dwane, they’ve never seen you do anything out of line ever. Still allowed vile rumors to spread and played a part in it. Only if you forgive them will I let them off with a warning. I’m making a harsh example of them for the entire company to see and understand. I won’t tolerate bullying or harassment.”
She sighed now herself and looked to all of them here. “I don’t need an apology; I just want to forget it ever happened. Things to go back to normal. If they can do that, I’ll let it go. There is no need for anyone to be fired,” she stated.
Edward stared at her now. “You’re too lenient when I’m trying to set an example. As forgiving of them and their filthy mouths as you are of my son’s stupid actions,” he shook his head and was quiet for several minutes. No one here spoke as he looked at them all. “Fine, I’ll not fire any of them, but Dwane, you will audit each of them and the work they’ve done for the past year, and if it’s seen as subpar, you deal with that appropriately. Demotions and restructuring if you see fit. Seeing as it’s your department to hire and fire.”
“Yes, Mr Hayes.” Dwane nodded.
