Chapter 9
“Fine, I won’t divorce you.”
Austin was so happy he tried to embrace me.
I placed my hand over my stomach, blocking his touch, and looked at the man who had been by my side for ten years, my voice cold:
“But-”
“You have to get back every penny you’ve spent on her.”
Austin hesitated, “Gianna… can we not do it this way? Her parents are terrible to her. If she
doesn’t have this apartment, where can she go?”
The lingerie cost 1,300 yuan.
The dessert shop cost 500,000.
The apartment next door cost 2 million.
And this is just what I knew about–there were probably many more things Austin had paid
for her that I couldn’t see.
In Austin’s mind,
I had always been understanding, gentle, thoughtful, knowing when to yield and when to stand my ground.
No woman could be so magnanimous when faced with her husband’s infidelity.
His thoughts were naive and absurd.

Chapter 9
“These are our joint assets, aren’t they?”
“I don’t want to tell our child in the future that the child’s father opened a cake shop for another woman, bought lingerie for another woman…”
When he heard the mention of the child, Austin’s face changed drastically.
“Okay, I’ll agree to everything.”
To put my mind at ease, he transferred both properties into my name.
So, when I confronted Stella, her face turned pale, as if she wanted to dig her nails into her
palms.
“Gianna, all of these things were bought by Austin for me. What right do you have to take
them back?!”
“You, a washed–up old woman, don’t understand the dynamic between Austin and me. He’s told me that you can’t act cute, can’t be playful, and you won’t keep him entertained with
excitement like I do!”
I looked at Austin, his face a mix of emotions, as if he couldn’t decide whether to laugh or
cry.
He raised his hand and slapped Stella. “She’s my wife. My things. She has every right to take
them back whenever she wants.”
Stella looked at him in disbelief, her eyes turning red. “Austin…”
I thought Austin would at least pretend,
But instead, he pleaded for Stella. “Wife, I’ll make sure to get the dessert shop back.”
“Can you not report her to the school? She only has two months left until graduation…”
This was the first time I’d seen Austin so humble.

Chapter 9
Just moments ago, we were in our room, talking about buying a baby rocking chair, and how he would sit beside it to play with our child.
Now, he was begging me for another woman.
In our hardest year, I worked as a waitress in a restaurant. The hot pot spilled all over me.
The manager yelled at me, deducted three days‘ wages.
My hands were burnt, and the pain kept me up all night.
He tenderly kissed my forehead, tears in his eyes as he said, “Gianna, hang in there. I’ll make sure you have a good life.”
But now, he couldn’t bear to let this girl experience even the slightest bit of hardship.
