Chapter 12
Lucas didn’t even blink, directly raising the price to 500,000.
While Sean’s situation had changed, The Hall family’s wealth still remained, so bidding on a painting wasn’t difficult for him. He immediately raised the bid to 1 million.
Seeing the two of them bidding, others got excited, and many wealthy young heirs joined in.
Soon, the price soared to 8 million.
Gloria sat quietly and unobtrusively in the last row, watching her painting being fiercely
contested.
Lucas, uninterested in further bidding wars, made a small gesture with his fingers and
calmly said, “One hundred million.”
One hundred million!
The entire room gasped.
None of the previous bidders dared to continue.
However, for Sean, this was his only chance to interact with Gloria, and he didn’t want to
miss it, so he raised the bid to “Two hundred million.”
Lucas smiled and turned back to glance at Gloria. He mouthed “sister” to her and then
decisively raised the bid to “One billion.”
He had heard some rumors about The Hall family. He knew that The Hall family had already changed hands, and this Sean was now merely a man dependent on his parents, unable to compete with his bid of one billion.
Sure enough.
When the one–billion figure was announced, Sean hesitated.

Chapter 12
He no longer had the capital to challenge Lucas.
In the end, he reluctantly stopped bidding.
Thus, Sunrise on the Ocean Currents was won by Lucas, the president of Empire Selina Group, at a sky–high price. He wore a smug expression, turning to wink at Gloria.
However, Gloria had already left her seat.
Lucas chased after her and happened to spot her waiting for a car by the side of the road.
Afraid she would leave and he wouldn’t be able to contact her, he quickly came up with an
excuse. “Sister, I won your painting. I need to sign the contract with you.”
Gloria knew exactly what he meant.
She smiled and replied, “The gallery owner, Mr. Zane, represents me. You can contact him.”
Lucas felt a bit aggrieved. Blinking his eyes, he lowered his voice and said, “Sister, I like you.
Can you feel it? I don’t expect you to immediately agree to date me, but can we start as
friends?”
Gloria immediately refused, “No, I’m not interested in men.”
“You don’t need to be interested in me,” Lucas became anxious. “You can treat me as a pastime when you’re bored. You can tease me, treat me like a dog, or mess with me, it’s all
fine.”
Gloria found it utterly amusing.
With a good mood, she said, “Is this how you young guys pursue women?”
At that moment, Sean also ran out.
Seeing Lucas’s expression, he immediately understood what they were talking about.
Chapter 12
With tears in his eyes, he desperately said to Gloria, “Baby, can I talk to you alone for a
moment?”
Gloria responded coldly, “Mr. Hall, I heard that four years ago you lost your beloved wife to a heart attack. I truly sympathize with you, but I really don’t want to get to know you. So please, stay away from me.”
Her voice carried no emotion, and she looked at him as though he were a complete stranger.
Sean’s tears flowed freely, utterly disregarding his image.
He said, “Baby, it’s all my fault. I shouldn’t have lied to you. I shouldn’t have been with another woman. So many men cheat, and their wives forgive them. Why can’t you forgive
me?”
Gloria couldn’t help but laugh.
She couldn’t believe that Sean was still so self–righteous, so absurd.
Still trying to manipulate her.
She couldn’t be bothered with the two men standing before her, and just then, the gallery
owner arrived in his car.
She waved and said, “I’m leaving. It’s goodbye for now.”
She left them with a carefree back.
Epilogue:
It wasn’t really “goodbye for now.”
Gloria embarked on her global travels, and Sean and Lucas would occasionally appear before her.
She chose to ignore them.
Chapter 12
One night, she suddenly felt that having a man to hold her while sleeping wouldn’t be so bad, so she briefly accepted Lucas for a time.
Men?
They were just for fun.
Ten years later:
Gloria, now a renowned artist, was flourishing.
Twenty years later:
Her speed of changing boyfriends became a topic of discussion both inside and outside the
art world.
Thirty years later:
As a master–level painter, her life was full of glamorous rumors, just as her art was widely
known around the world.
When Gloria had enjoyed her life to the fullest, her epitaph read:
“This woman had wealth, beauty, health, and freedom. Countless men followed in her wake. Sadly, she only lived for sixty years.”
As for her original husband, the one who swore to love her for life–he lived out his days in solitude, never remarried.
But who cares?
