I Made $900 Trillion In 24 Hours novel Chapter 29

“Put me into retirement?” Mr. A. Adams laughed out loud. “You seriously have a big mouth, Barry. I've been chairman of the school board for twenty-five years. Who do you think you are?”

Barry turned to principal Shepherd Joyce. “Call the school board. Inform them that King is interested in buying the school if they'd take a vote and remove Mr. A. Adams.”

Principal Shepherd Joyce's eyes grew wide. “What are you talking about? This school is not for sale.”

“Everything is for sale if the price is right,” Barry said sharply. “Tell them I'm offering $100 Million.”

Everyone stiffened in shock.

“A $100 million?” The vice principal exclaimed. “Not even our annual revenue after taxes is close to that amount.”

Principal Shepherd Joyce shook her head. “Barry, this is an educational institution. I don't think the board would–”

“That's because you haven't asked them,” Barry interrupted. “The chairperson may be the most important person on the board, but he's not invisible. If the board takes a collective vote to remove him, he'll be out of office.”

Barry pointed his finger at principal Shepherd Joyce. “Perhaps $100 million is too small. Take out your phone and call the board. I'll throw in an extra $50 million for your effort.”

Everyone's jaws dropped. They couldn't believe what was happening right now.

Mr. A. Adams wrapped his arms around his tummy and bellowed with laughter. “This is priceless. Just how stupid can one get? You seriously think you can turn the board against me with your fake promises of buying the school?”

Barry wore an indifferent expression on his face. “A school is a business establishment. At the end of the day, it all comes down to profits. Everyone has a price. For the right price, I can easily replace you.”

“You sound as if you have the money in cash,” Mr. A. Adams scoffed. “Aren't you King's lowly servant? Where would you get $150 million from?”

“I just have to pass a call to king and the deal would be done in a matter of minutes,” Barry answered.

“This King sounds like an interesting fellow,” Mr. A. Adams said. “Let's put him to the test. If he buys this school, then I'll step down. Make a better offer.”

Barry, hid a smile. He turned to principal Shepherd Joyce. “Call the school board. Here's my new offer, $300 million.”

Principal Shepherd Joyce reared her head back. She looked sharply at Mr. A. Adams. “Are you sure you want to do this?”

“What's there to be afraid of?” Mr. A. Adams scoffed. “I'm just humouring this fool. There's no man who's crazy about buying a school for $300 million. I'll expose this King for the fraud he is.”

Principal Shepherd Joyce frowned. “I'm not sure if I want to do this. Why don't you call the board yourself.”

“Fine,” Mr. A. Adams pulled out his phone and dialed his deputy. “Hello, Franklin. There's this joker who is offering $300 million to purchase the school on the condition that the board votes to remove me as chairman.”

Barry remained silent as Mr. A. Adams laughed some more. It was as if Adams were enjoying himself.

“Yeah, I know right,” Mr. A. Adams continued. “That's why I'm going to play along with his game. Send the school's account details. If this joker paid the money, then I will personally step down as chairman.”

The air was tensed as he hung up and turned to Barry. “There you have it. Tell your master to transfer the money. I dare you.”

“Provide me with the school's history number,” Barry asked.

Mr. A. Adams handed him the details. Barry stepped aside and pulled out his phone.

While he was dialing, principal Shepherd Joyce strode up to Mr. A. Adams. “How are you so confident, chairman? If he buys the school, you'll be removed.”
