Natalie heard the noise outside and went to see what it was.
Several workers were moving items into the apartment across the hall, and a familiar figure was standing at the door.
"Aaron?" Natalie said in surprise.
"Ms. Watson."
"You… live here?" she asked.
Aaron Lee smiled politely. "This is Mr. Ramirez's apartment. We're just adding a few new things today."
"Alexander Ramirez?"
Her neighbor was Alexander Ramirez!
What was he doing living here? Right across the hall, no less.
"Why isn't he living at The Apex Residences anymore?" Natalie pressed.
Aaron remained respectful. "That was the boss's decision. I'm just an assistant. Ms. Watson, perhaps you could ask him yourself?"
As he spoke, he glanced over her shoulder.
Natalie turned to see Alexander stepping out of the elevator. He was dressed in a black suit, his hair perfectly styled, looking as if he had just come from an important meeting.
Seeing Natalie's questioning gaze, Alexander feigned surprise.
"What are you doing here?"
Natalie suspected Alexander had done this on purpose. After all, this was a Ramirez Group property; it would have been easy for him to find out which building and unit she had purchased.
And yet, he was turning the question back on her.
"If you haven't lost your memory, you should recall that I bought a place here," Natalie said, her tone laced with sarcasm.
Alexander paused for a moment as if remembering, then a half-smile played on his lips. "So, you specifically bought an apartment across from me?"
Natalie was speechless.
The apartment was bought, and she couldn't return it. Nor did she have any right to demand that Alexander move.
If they were going to be neighbors, she would just have to treat him like one.
"I have things to do, so I won't disturb your moving in," Natalie said, deciding to leave.
"Actually, I have some business with you. Since we're here, there's no reason to schedule another meeting," Alexander said.
Natalie stopped and waited for him to continue.
Alexander gestured toward her door. "We can't talk in the hallway, can we? Aren't you going to invite me in?"
How would he explain that to Camila? Would Camila approve?
"He won't," Alexander said.
He stared at her. She was still using Eugene Ramirez as an excuse. It seemed she had truly forgotten what she'd said last night.
But he decided not to press the issue, curious to see how long she could keep up the act.
Natalie pursed her lips. He won't?
Was Alexander suggesting she become his secret lover, hiding their affair from Camila? Then, of course, Camila would never know, and there would be no question of her approval.
Anger flared in Natalie's heart at the thought. "I'm not that kind of person, and I would never do something so immoral."
That would make her a mistress.
She would become the very type of person she despised. Absolutely not.
Her dark eyes shone with determination, her face a mask of righteous indignation. Alexander crossed his arms, nodding as if in agreement with her words.
Then, his lips parted.
"Acting immorally is indeed shameful. So, to respect that moral baseline, we should just withdraw our divorce application."
