Natalie avoided Alexander's gaze, walked to the table, sat down, and took a sip from the water glass in front of her.
"No."
Alexander stared at her for a long moment before finally answering.
Charlie shook his head. "What a pity. If you had told her, she would have been so happy." After a moment, his curiosity got the better of him. "She must have been someone you treasured very much, right?"
Natalie lowered her lashes, unwilling to listen any longer.
"I'm going to the restroom," she said, standing up and heading for the door.
As she reached for the handle, Alexander's voice came from behind her.
"Yes. But I lost her. If she would give me another chance, I would cherish her and never let her feel hurt again."
Natalie's hand paused on the doorknob for a fraction of a second before she pulled the door open and walked out.
Splashing cold water on her face, Natalie looked up at her reflection in the mirror, water droplets tracing paths down her cheeks.
She took out her phone and glanced at the date.
In just over a week, they were scheduled to go to the Marriage Registration Office to get their divorce certificate.
"You'll be better off once you leave Alexander Ramirez."
She said the words to her reflection.
After dinner, Charlie had to return to his hotel to deal with an urgent work matter.
"I'll drive you," Natalie offered.
Alexander took the car keys right out of her hand. "There are still some follow-up tasks from the auction to attend to. I'll have Aaron Lee take Charlie."
Charlie was understanding. Knowing they were busy, he agreed to let Aaron Lee drive him.
As she watched her own car being driven away, Alexander said to her, "Come on, get in."
Natalie looked up at him. "Alexander Ramirez, Charlie is my friend. What you did tonight was out of line."
"He's your friend, so what am I?"
Alexander stared at her, his dark eyes flashing with a hint of anger.
This time, Natalie didn't look away. She met his gaze, her own firm. "You are about to be my ex-husband."
What kind of attitude did he expect from someone who was about to become his ex-husband?
Alexander's eyes narrowed. He was silent for a few seconds before nodding. "About to be my ex-husband isn't my ex-husband yet. We're still technically a married couple. Other men get to eat your cooking, but I can't?"
"I'm sorry… I'm sorry…"
Alexander gently stroked her back, his lips pressing a kiss to the top of her head. He didn't know what else to say, so he could only repeat those three words over and over.
Natalie shoved him away, her face streaked with tears. "I don't need your apology, and I don't want to see you!"
She turned and ran toward the street. A taxi happened to be approaching, and she flagged it down and jumped inside.
Alexander stared at his empty arms, standing there for a long while before slowly walking back to his car.
The Rolls-Royce drove away from the restaurant's parking lot.
From the shadows of a corner, a figure emerged.
Camila White's eyes were filled with a dark, sinister light. She had seen everything.
They were about to get a divorce, yet Alexander was still obsessed with Natalie Watson!
She was filled with hatred. If Natalie Watson had never returned to Cabinda, she would be married to Alexander by now.
Just then, her phone rang. She mechanically swiped to answer.
"Alex, why are you doing this to me?"
