I Refuse to Be Your Second Choice novel Chapter 248

There was a commotion at the entrance as the police arrived, Bruce Ward right behind them, and Arianna Mitchell rushing in.

“Natalie!”

Arianna spotted Natalie slumped against the wall, barely holding herself up. Seeing Alexander’s jacket wrapped around her and the scraps of her own dress, Arianna’s worry turned to tears.

Natalie forced a small smile. “Don’t cry. I’m really okay.”

Bruce motioned for the doctor to check on Natalie, then strode straight to Alexander. He glanced coldly at Benjamin White, who was barely conscious on the floor.

“Don’t throw your life away for someone like him,” Bruce said. “There are better ways to finish him off.”

After everything Benjamin had said, the rage in Alexander’s eyes faded, replaced with a chilling indifference. He turned to Aaron Lee. “Tell Noa Cruz Benjamin White isn’t ever getting out.”

Noa Cruz led The Ramirez Group’s legal team. No one messed with them. With Noa involved, Benjamin would spend the rest of his life behind bars. Who knew what might happen to him there.

The police quickly took control, hauling away the battered Benjamin and his men.

Alexander headed back to Natalie, his gaze sweeping over her. Her face was pale. Red marks stood out on her arms where she’d fought back. Alexander’s jaw clenched.

Bruce looked at the doctor. “Is she going to be all right?”

“She’ll be fine,” the doctor replied. “Just some ointment for the bruises.”

The second the words left the doctor’s mouth, Alexander scooped Natalie up. His suit jacket draped over her, covering her from head to toe. The warm, woody scent of him settled her nerves. She heard his voice, low and gentle, but still trembling with concern. “I’m taking you home.”

“I thought you were in Emberfall. How’d you end up back in Cabinda?”

“The deal was done, so I came back.” He made it sound simple, as if all his worry and panic could fit into that one calm sentence.

“Did it go smoothly?”

“Yeah. It’s done.”

They talked softly, just like when they first met. No fighting, no walls between them. It almost felt like nothing bad had ever happened. Even Camila White seemed to vanish from their world, like she never existed. For a split second, they both wished the car would just keep driving and never stop.

But then Alexander’s phone rang, cutting through the quiet. The name “Camila White” lit up the screen, yanking them both back to reality.
