I Refuse to Be Your Second Choice novel Chapter 254

Camila’s eyes lit up, sparkling with surprise and happiness. She couldn’t help the grin that spread across her face, and her hands automatically came to rest on her gently rounded belly.

“Really, Alex? You’ll actually go with me to my appointment tomorrow?” Her voice shook with excitement she couldn’t quite hide.

Alex had never gone with her before. He hadn’t even bothered to come home for past check-ups, let alone ask about them. So hearing him say he’d go with her now felt almost unreal, like she’d been handed something precious.

Savannah smiled warmly, her eyes shining with hope for her future grandchild. She patted Camila’s hand. “With Alexander by your side, I can finally relax,” she said fondly.

But Charlotte sat quietly, watching with sharp eyes. She caught the quick flicker of something unreadable in her grandson’s expression and narrowed her gaze just a little, keeping her thoughts hidden. Why the sudden change? Was Alexander planning something else? He hadn’t said a word when she brought up the engagement, but now he was volunteering to go to the check-up. Charlotte didn’t believe for a second that he’d suddenly warmed up to a woman he’d always disdained.

She stayed silent, keeping her suspicions to herself.

It was late by the time Alexander and Camila left the Ramirez estate together.

The car rolled smoothly through the quiet night. As soon as they got in, Alexander leaned back and closed his eyes, looking like he wanted nothing but peace and quiet. Camila, still giddy from the talk of their engagement and the check-up, glanced at him. She hesitated, then spoke softly.

“Alex, there’s something I want to ask you.”

He didn’t open his eyes. Just made a low sound to show he was listening.

Camila drew a slow breath, choosing her words with care. “Something happened to Benjamin. Could you... help him?”

At the name Benjamin White, Alexander’s eyes flew open. His whole face turned cold and hard, and his gaze was like ice.

“You’re asking me to help him? After everything he’s done to you? Do you even know what he did?”

When they reached the villa, Alexander didn’t go inside with her. He told the driver to stop at the gate and waited for Camila to get out before the car pulled away.

Inside the car, Alexander’s face showed nothing.

“Is everything set up?” he asked.

From the front seat, Aaron Lee nodded. “I’ve already spoken to Dr. Bell. The DNA test will be added to tomorrow’s check-up, and Ms. White won’t know about it.”

Alexander looked out the window. Tomorrow, he’d finally have the truth. His heart started beating just a little faster.

After a moment, Aaron checked the rearview mirror. “Mr. Ramirez, should we bring Ms. Watson in tomorrow too? If she sees the results herself, maybe she’ll finally stop blaming you.”
