I Refuse to Be Your Second Choice novel Chapter 328

Natalie tapped her phone, and there it was—her name all over the trending topics.

She clicked the first hashtag, and the comments were already exploding. People were posting nonstop, their words harsh and, honestly, downright cruel.

“Natalie Watson doesn’t deserve to be in the auction world! Get out of Cabinda!”

“I heard she slept her way up. No wonder something like this happened with Billy Firth.”

“The auction scene is so shady. Who knows what kind of dirty secrets someone like Natalie Watson is hiding?”

“Apparently she’s been with a bunch of powerful guys. That’s probably how she survived this long.”

Reading the comments, Natalie could tell someone was stirring up trouble on purpose. It was pretty obvious who was behind it.

Anne rushed in, looking flustered. “Nora, PR’s statement is ready. We just posted it, but it hasn’t made it to the trending page yet.”

Natalie set her phone down and looked calm as ever. “Have PR release another statement. Make it clear we’ll be taking legal action against anyone spreading rumors. Also, get legal involved right away. Prep lawsuits for anyone behind this slander.”

Anne had seen the vicious comments too, so she understood what Natalie meant. She nodded and turned to leave, but Natalie stopped her. “One more thing. Ask tech to dig into where those comments are coming from. I want to know if someone’s pulling strings behind the scenes.”

After work, Natalie got into her car and started the engine. Her phone buzzed with a text from an unknown number.

“Seen the trending topics? Feels good being public enemy number one, doesn’t it?”

Instead, the statement from her PR team had rocketed to the number one spot. She clicked it open and scrolled through the comments. All she saw was support.

“Billy Firth’s auctions have always been trustworthy. There’s definitely more to this than meets the eye.”

“I support Natalie Watson. Hope she finds out the truth soon.”

“It’s tough enough for women at work, and now people are spreading garbage? Show some proof before you talk trash!”

“She’s a world-renowned auctioneer. I trust Natalie Watson. No way she’d do something like that.”

The support made Natalie’s chest tighten a little. She was touched, but also confused. She hadn’t told PR to go all out like this. How had every negative post just disappeared? And why did everything suddenly flip in her favor?

She was still wondering when someone tapped on her car window.
