I Refuse to Be Your Second Choice novel Chapter 329

Natalie was lost in her own thoughts when a sudden knock on her window made her jump.

She turned to see Samuel Thompson standing outside. Natalie opened the door and stepped out of the car.

“What are you doing here?” she asked.

“I finished up at work and saw all the stuff people were saying online,” he said. “I was going to call you, but then I figured I’d check on you in person. How are you holding up? At least the trending posts are gone now.”

In that moment, it clicked for Natalie. The trending topics had disappeared because Samuel had stepped in.

She smiled softly. “Thank you.”

Samuel looked surprised, thinking she was just thanking him for coming by. “I guess I was overthinking. Honestly, I should’ve known you’re not the type to get knocked down so easily. Otherwise, you wouldn’t be Natalie Watson.”

She laughed a little. “Getting such a compliment from Mr. Thompson is almost too much. But don’t worry about me. I’m fine.”

Seeing that Natalie was in good spirits, Samuel didn’t keep her any longer. They chatted for another minute or two, then he left.

On the other side of town, Camila White was fuming. She hadn’t gotten so much as a single reply from Natalie, and it felt like trying to punch air—no matter how loud she got, Natalie didn’t react at all.

What really sent her over the edge was checking the trending topics again. Not a single post about Natalie was left.

Instead, Billy Firth’s official statement was front and center, and there were tons of people showing support for Natalie.

Camila grabbed her phone and called her private investigator.

“Find out who deleted those trending posts!” she snapped.

“Ms. White, you give us too much credit,” the detective said. “We can tail people, take pictures, sure. But digging up who has that kind of power? That’s not really something we can do.”

“Can’t do it, huh? What if I offer two million?” Camila’s tone was icy.

He sighed. “It’s not that I don’t want the job, but you’re asking for something almost impossible…”

She added, “You heard how Alexander treated her at the hospital that day.”

Ralph thought for a second. “If it wasn’t Mr. Ramirez, then it almost has to be Samuel Thompson. He’s the only one in Cabinda who could go toe to toe with Alexander Ramirez.”

Camila was quiet, thinking it over. “I don’t care who it is. Just find out for me. I want answers.”

She hung up, but her anger hadn’t cooled off at all.

That bitch, Natalie Watson, actually had Samuel Thompson backing her up. All the public outrage she’d worked so hard to create was wiped out, just like that.

She slammed her fist into the sofa.

Her phone slipped and hit the floor. As Camila bent to pick it up, it started ringing.

When she saw the number on the screen, she froze. The rage drained from her face, replaced by a sudden jolt of panic.
