I Refuse to Be Your Second Choice novel Chapter 346

Eugene Ramirez felt a wave of relief wash over him when Natalie walked back into the office, looking perfectly fine.

“So? What did Nicholas say?”

Natalie slipped off her coat and poured herself a glass of water, acting like it was just another normal day.

“Nicholas was definitely threatened, but he has no idea who he met with. He doesn’t know who’s behind any of it.”

Eugene paused, thinking it over. “Then let’s have Nicholas pretend to reach out to them again. When they show up, we’ll catch them in the act.”

Natalie set her glass down, her eyes calm and steady. “I have another idea. I think I can draw out the person behind all this.”

Late at night, Summit View was dead quiet. The only light came from the dim emergency bulbs glowing in the hallway.

Two figures crept into Billy Firth’s tech department.

“Mike said the security footage is being restored. We have to find it tonight,” Camila White whispered, her voice tight with nerves.

Eric Bailey nodded. He scanned the room quickly, then hurried over to a computer and powered it up.

His fingers flew across the keyboard.

A few moments later, a folder named “Security Video 10” popped up on the screen.

“Got it,” Eric said, his voice low and excited.

Camila’s eyes sparkled. “Come on, delete it!”

Eric didn’t hesitate. He pressed delete.

Suddenly, a loud alarm screeched through the building. Red lights started flashing up and down the hallways.

“What’s happening?” Camila’s face went pale. Panic crept into her voice.

Eric froze, but then it hit him. “Crap, it’s a trap!”

Camila was furious, but she knew she needed to get out of there fast.

She turned to Eric. “If we make it out tonight, I’ll leave with you.”

That was all Eric wanted to hear. He glanced at the tall, wiry guards. “Don’t worry. They can’t stop me.”

Eric had trained in kickboxing and wasn’t intimidated.

As if on cue, the guards moved in to grab them.

Eric jumped right into the fight.

Natalie watched every move. The guards were better than expected, and Eric wasn’t winning as easily as he’d hoped.

Across the room, Camila grabbed a box cutter from a desk and quietly edged closer to Natalie.

“Let us go, or I swear I’ll kill you!” Camila shrieked, pressing the sharp blade right up against Natalie’s neck.
