Natalie Watson pressed herself against the door, her voice sharp.
“Mr. White, I’ll ask you to show some respect.”
Her charming face was free of makeup. The beige blouse and fitted pencil skirt she wore perfectly accentuated her curvaceous figure.
Benjamin White had been practically drooling over her, wishing he could get her into bed right then and there. But his sister, Camila, had been right about one thing: this woman wasn't like the others he’d played with. Those women had thrown themselves at him, no effort required. This one was different. Even her anger had a captivating fire that made him want her more.
She was a challenge.
But a woman like this, once won, would be absolutely worth it.
Benjamin settled back into his seat with a smug grin. “Don’t be angry, Ms. Watson. I was just joking.”
It was the peak of the lunch rush, and when they arrived at the restaurant, the host informed them there were no tables available.
Benjamin snapped, “Do you have any idea who I am? Find a table for me, now!”
“Sir, we truly don’t have any available seats. I’m very sorry, but we can’t make one appear.”
Just as Benjamin was about to make a scene, Natalie grabbed his arm. “If there’s no table, we can just go somewhere else. Are you here to pick a fight, Mr. White?”
Feeling her delicate hand on his arm, Benjamin’s anger instantly melted into a wide smile.
Natalie, realizing the contact, pulled her hand back a second later.
“Alright, whatever you say. We’ll find another place.”
The thought of wasting more time searching for another restaurant gave Natalie a headache.
Just then, a table of diners finished their meal and got up to pay. “Never mind,” she said. “We can take that one.”
After the server cleared the table, they sat down.
“Bring us all of your best dishes,” Benjamin announced, flashing his wealth.
“Just for the two of you, sir? That might be a bit wasteful,” the server suggested politely.
Benjamin scoffed. “You think I can’t afford it?”
The server quickly apologized. Natalie, exasperated, cut in. “Just a simple soup for me.”
Whatever Benjamin wanted to eat was his own business.
“A simple soup won’t do!”
He insisted the server bring their finest and most expensive dishes.
“I have work to get back to, and my time is limited,” Natalie said firmly. “You wanted to discuss the antique, didn’t you? We have twenty minutes.”
Hearing this, Benjamin relented, quickly ordered a few dishes, and dismissed the server.
“Mr. White, I suggest you bring the item directly to our company’s appraisal department next time. My time is up. Enjoy your meal.”
With that, Natalie strode out of the restaurant.
Benjamin wasn’t about to let her go that easily and hurried after her.
“Ms. Watson, don’t go! We haven’t even eaten yet.”
“I’ve lost my appetite. Stop following me.”
Natalie quickened her pace, desperate to keep him from catching up and cornering her.
But she was in heels, and no matter how fast she walked, she couldn't outpace him. Within moments, he caught her.
Benjamin grabbed her arm, his expression turning sour. No woman had ever dared to defy him like this.
“What’s the meaning of this, Ms. Watson? Are you trying to embarrass me?”
“I’ve already shown you plenty of respect by even coming here with you. Now, I suggest you conduct yourself with some dignity!”
She tried to wrench her arm free, but his grip was too tight.
Suddenly, a figure appeared behind her. With a swift movement she barely saw, Benjamin cried out in pain and let go.
