Irresistible Boss Succumbing to Your Touch (Maria Anita) novel Chapter 495

Flavian’s POV

I arrived in Bellwood and went straight to my father's company, where my brother was already waiting for me.

"Explain to me, Flavian, what are you doing here today?" Raul asked curiously, as I had not told him the reason for my visit.

"Our father was at my house on Saturday. He went to talk to Manuela." Raul looked at me as if he couldn't believe it.

"But Mom said he had gone to the neighboring town to visit a friend," Raul kept an eye on what our parents were up to and always warned me when he found something important.

"Well, he didn't. He caught Manu alone while I was on call," I explained. The fact that my mother had lied only raised another red flag for me. "But from what she said, he just tried to convince her to help bring me back, as he likes to say. Apparently, he was quite polite with her."

"That's somewhat better. But is that why you're here?"

"I came to make it clear to him not to mess with her. And I also came to check on Lexie's situation. Is Mom still going on with that ridiculous arranged marriage idea?" I was genuinely worried about my sister.

"Yes, our mother hasn't given up yet. And what about my situation, aren't you worried about that?" Raul asked, pretending to be offended.

"Well, I don't know, I think Mom's idea for you isn't bad, I like the idea of being an uncle," I teased him, and he laughed. "You and Paula can take care of yourselves."

It didn't take long for my father to appear in my brother's office; surely some brown-noser had already informed him I was there.

"Flavian! What a nice surprise! Have you decided to take what's rightfully yours?" My father was all smiles.

"Actually, Dad, I came here to warn you to stay away from what's mine."

"I can't believe you're upset because I visited your girlfriend?" He smiled even more. "By the way, a very beautiful and well-mannered young lady, I was impressed."

"Yes, Manu is all that and much more. But you didn't visit her out of simple curiosity." I would never believe that.

"Flavian, I will always try to make you see the mistake you're making, and if Manu could help me with that, it would be great, but she made it clear that she supports you and won't intercede on my behalf. I wanted to meet her, that's all."

I was finding it very strange; it seemed too simple for my father. He was being direct, didn't try to string me along, and said what he came for without beating around the bush.

"What are you plotting, Dad?" I couldn't believe it was just that—a visit, an attempt to get her help, and that was it. And he even praised her. Something was wrong.

"Son, I'll keep insisting with you, but Manu made it clear that I can't count on her. But she also said she would support whatever you decide, so I think if you decide to come back, she'll be by your side, which relieves me because she's not the obstacle to your return," my father spoke so naturally that if I didn't know him so well, I would have believed him.

"No, she's not an obstacle to anything. I know Manu will go wherever I go," I replied confidently. "But you haven't convinced me, Dad. And I want to remind you of the warning I already gave you."

"And what warning would that be?" My father was strangely calm—no shouting, no insistence, no drama.

"If you lay a finger on her, if you do anything to harm her or separate us, I'll break ties with the family for good, and you'll never see me again. I'm not joking, Dad. That mess with Sabrina was enough," I warned.

"Ah, Sabrina. I heard she's back and living with her parents. You got the divorce. That's good!" My father only stayed this calm when he got what he wanted, so I was worried; something was happening, and I didn't know what it was.

"Yes, I got the divorce. But she's still being investigated for the forged signatures on those documents."

"What a low move from that girl! Forging signatures..." My father shook his head as if he really found it tragic. "I hope the guilty parties are punished. But relax, son, I was just curious and went to meet Manu. Unfortunately, I can't count on her support, so I'll convince you another way. Don't worry, I won't put Manu in the middle of our disagreement."

"That simple?" I still wasn't convinced, but one thing I knew: whatever it was, he wouldn't say anything.
