We returned to my desk when the bank manager stepped out of the elevator. Rick introduced us, and we sat down. In less than twenty minutes, my new account was opened, and I was thrilled about it.

“Well, Manuela, now you can transfer your money,” Magellan stated, and I immediately turned on my phone, opened old bank’s app, and transferred the entire amount.

“Magellan, will this transfer go through immediately?” asked uncertainly.

“Yes, since it’s between two accounts with the same holder, it’s instant. You can open your new bank’s app and confirm.” He responded with a professional smile. Ippened the app and saw the money already in my

new account.

“Now, how do I close the old account?” I asked.

“It depends on the bank. In your former bank’s case, you can do it through the app itself. But you can also request it from your manager if you had a good relationship.” Magellan explained.

“I’ll do it directly through the app. Can you help me?” He smiled and guided me. In five minutes, my old account was closed, and I breathed a sigh of relief.

“Manuela, I’ll have your card delivered here at the company, it’s faster that way. It should arrive at the bank in three or four days,” Magellan informed me. “I noticed you have a good amount saved up, I suggest you invest it in secure investments. I’ll leave these investment brochures with you, take a look, maybe you’d like to put part of your money in a safe investment where it can grow instead of just sitting there? Rick can give you some tips, and I’m also at your complete disposal. When you decide, just call me, and I’ll come here to assist you.”

“Great! Thank you so much. I’ll look at this carefully. I like the idea of making my money grow.”

“So, Manu, that was easier than we thought, wasn’t it?” Rick said when we were alone at reception.

“Rick, this was amazing!” I said smiling. “Thank you so much for helping me with this. And I’ll definitely want some investment tips.”

“We can have lunch together tomorrow, and I’ll help you make the best investments. Your money will grow safely, and you’ll be satisfied.” Rick assured me.

“It’s a deal!” I gratefully accepted her help.

“Now I need to get back to work. If you need anything, Manu, just come to my office. We’re friends, don’t forget that!” Rick said, and I gave her a hug, completely happy to have found such good people in life.

After Rick returned to his office, I decided to teach that gossip Jenna a lesson. I was nice, but I was not stupid, and I wasn’t going to let her gossip slide. I grabbed my phone and called my former bank manager. “Manuela, it’s so good to hear from you, girl. How’s college going?” Nathan, my former bank manager,

“Hi, Nathan. Everything’s fine, thank you. Nathan, I just wanted to let you know that I closed my account at your bank.”

“What happened, Manuela? You needed the money? You didn’t have to close your account.”

“No, Nathan, I just transferred my money to another bank. Your bank isn’t secure. Your employee Jenna is spreading information about what I do with my money around town, and she promised to help my mother clean out my account.”

“Explain what happened, Manuela.” I told Nathan what had occurred, and he was shocked. “I’m very sorry, but you did the right thing by taking your money out of here, I have to agree. I know your mother, she would definitely do that – that woman is getting worse and worse, poor friend of mine. As for Jenna, don’t worry, she won’t go unpunished. She’ll be fired for cause – she can’t breach clients‘ financial confidentiality.”

“Thank you, Nathan. I’m very sorry I had to close the account, I hope you understand. I need to go now, send my regards to your family. Goodbye.”

I hung up the phone, already tired of hearing the second line ringing. My mother was trying to call me again. I turned off my cell phone once more. Maybe I would never turn it on again, as she would not give up tormenting me.

When Flavian arrived to pick me up, I was already calm, but still very upset. My mother had ruined my day. “Beautiful little one, I was missing you so much.” Flavian kissed me as he approached my desk.

“Hey, look at that, a man in love!” Patrick mocked when he came out of his office and caught Flavian kissing me.

“As if you did not know what that feels like, Patrick.” Flavian responded without taking his eyes off me, while tucking a strand of my hair behind my ear and caressing it.

“Oh, I do know, but you seem to have just discovered it now.” Patrick laughed.

“You can bet I did. This little one has changed my life!” Flavian did not take his eyes off me as he spoke.

“I think I was wrong, this is not just a crush. Flavian, you have finally found true love! The real kind that lasts forever and puts you in a woman’s hands.” Patrick spoke more seriously, but I knew that was not it. My detective was just enchanted, as he had already told me himself, so much that we were not even dating. One day it would pass, and when that happened, I would die of sadness because I had found my love.

I considered my thoughts for a moment, looking deep into his eyes as he returned my gaze with a smile. When my detective left me, I would suffer, I already knew that, but until then, I would enjoy every second, every gesture of affection from him. When he left me, I would have all these moments in my memory to comfort my heart.

“Patrick, you can be sure that this little one has me wrapped around her finger.” Flavian simply replied to his friend after a while. “Ready to go, little one?”

I could not take my eyes off him, as if I wanted to memorize every feature of his face. I grabbed my purse, we said goodbye to Patrick, and left hand in hand. I felt comfort, security, and boundless love for this handsome detective who had already changed my life.
