Irresistible Boss Succumbing to Your Touch (Maria Anita) novel Chapter 462

Flavian’s POV

I was at the police station. After finding Sabrina, I didn't go home. Day was almost breaking, and I would have to leave for work anyway, so I thought it better not to disturb my little one. But I was going to disturb someone else. I picked up the phone and dialed my father's number.

"Flavian, good morning! Have you come to your senses yet?" My father answered calmly. I knew he always woke up very early and by this hour would already be sitting in his home library reading the news.

"Dad, I never lost them! But I called just to tell you something I don't think you understood." I spoke as calmly as he did. "Sabrina is a shot in the foot. I will never go back to her, and if she bothers Manu, I will cut ties with the family for good. So stop using her; it won't work and is only irritating me."

"Well, at least it's irritating you." My father laughed. Of course, he wanted more than just to irritate me.

"I thought we were calling a truce?" I asked, seeing that my efforts from the previous day had been in vain.

"Oh, son, but I did give you a truce. I'm accepting your proposal to attend company events and support your brother whenever I find it convenient. For a while, at least. But Sabrina, I have nothing to do with that." My father spoke very calmly.

"Right. Dad, you're an intelligent man, act like one. Using Sabrina could backfire on you. I'm warning you, if she, or anyone else, bothers Manu, I will permanently break ties with the family. That's all I wanted to say. Good morning." I hung up the phone, having delivered my message.

I sat there watching time pass. I was well ahead with my work, so I decided to bother another person who wakes up early, but not quite this early.

"If someone died, bury them, no need to call me asking what to do." Lexie answered with a sleepy voice. She hated being woken up, and I laughed knowing she would be angry.

"Nobody died, but thanks to you, someone might end up bald." I laughed and heard her laugh on the other end.

"Gosh, little brother, you know how to cure my bad mood!" She laughed. "Talk fast so I can go back to sleep, I was dreaming about that hot guy from that police show we watched together, I want to get back to him."

I started laughing. My sister was obsessed with TV shows, and in each one, she'd find herself a platonic love interest, or a "crush" as she called it. Her current one was the guy playing a tough cop in some SWAT show.

"Funny, I have a friend who looks just like him," I said, thinking of Patrick. "Oh, but you know him too, it's Patrick Guzman." My sister went silent.

"Just spit it out, Flavian. It's still the middle of the night, what do you want?" Lexie spoke impatiently, and I could tell her good mood had been short-lived. She must have noticed the time and gotten annoyed.

"Little sister, I want to know what possessed you to go have coffee with Sabrina."

"How do you know about that?" Lexie was surprised.

"That crazy woman is here. And for God's sake, when she finds out you played that lice prank on her, she's going to want to kill you." I said, remembering a fight they had at the city club when I was still married to Sabrina.

"Are you going to criticize me? You need information, I'm just helping you!" She pretended to be offended.

"Thank you, little sister. But be careful, you know how creative our father can be with the lessons he gives us," I said, remembering the many lessons she received from our father, always very creative and severe, sometimes even funny, but always making her go through some ridiculous situation.

"If you don't tell, I won't tell!" She always said that.

"What did he promise to give Sabrina? Did you find that out?"

"Money, big brother, money. It's always about money. And from what I know, it's not a small amount. Our mother complained to him that she thought he was paying Sabrina too much just to cause you some trouble. He's going to partner with her father to prevent his bankruptcy and give her a permanent monthly allowance to live comfortably in London." Lexie was well-informed.

"Our mother is right. It's too much money just for causing trouble. Something's wrong with this," I concluded, knowing that my father didn't throw money at the poor.

"That I don't know. But I have a hunch. Maybe he's creating a smoke screen for Sabrina to do everything he wants."

"An illusion? And in the end, she gets nothing?" It could be, but then Sabrina would make a huge fuss about it.

"That's what I think. But now I'm going back to my SWAT hottie. It was good talking to you, big brother." Lexie hung up the phone, and I was left thinking about what she had told me. My father had more cards up his sleeve, and I needed to find out what they were.
