Irresistible Boss Succumbing to Your Touch (Maria Anita) novel Chapter 466

Manuela’s POV

I woke up feeling Flavian's warm body next to mine. His arms were wrapped around me, keeping me close to him as he slept peacefully with a relaxed expression.

"What's been worrying you, big guy?" I whispered to myself, looking at his handsome, serene face.

I got out of bed very slowly so I wouldn't wake him. He needed to rest. I was in the kitchen having coffee and ready to leave for work when he appeared. He had just woken up, looking gorgeous with his messy hair and sleepy eyes.

"Why didn't you wake me up, little one?" He bent down and kissed my neck.

"Because you've been working too much and need to rest," I said while wrapping my arms around his neck.

"Hmm... what I need is more time with my beautiful little one." His head was in the curve of my neck, giving me kisses that almost made me give up going to work.

"That would be great! But I have to work, and I have class tonight."

"When will I see you?" He said in a complaining tone.

"The whole night is yours, big guy." I smiled, and he lifted me up and sat me on the table.

"Maybe I need something to help me wait until tonight without getting impatient." He teased, sliding his hand under my dress.

"I'd love to, but unfortunately there's no time, honey." I lamented my tight schedule. "But there's a holiday next week, we can have more time..."

"I like holidays." He wouldn't stop kissing my neck.

"Big guy, why is there a police car parked at the building entrance?" I remembered noticing the patrol car for a few days and hadn't asked. Maybe it was my imagination, but I felt Flavian tense up for a moment.

"You noticed." He lifted his head and gave me a kiss on the lips before moving away to get a coffee mug.

"It's hard not to notice."

"It's just precaution. You know, Samantha's ex-boyfriend threatened you, I don't want him to catch us off guard," Flavian explained, and I understood.

"Is that why you've been so stressed?" I finally asked, and he sighed.

"Little one, I couldn't bear losing you!" He looked into my eyes and ran his thumb across my face.

"You won't. That idiot probably doesn't even remember me anymore." I tried to reassure him.

"I don't think so. Either way, I want you safe and close to me." He kissed my forehead.

"Alright. If it makes you feel better, I don't mind. But now I have to go." He helped me down from the table. After brushing my teeth and applying lipstick, I grabbed my purse and college folder, and gave my big guy a kiss. "See you later."

Just as I was about to turn the doorknob to leave, he called out to me.

"Little one," he said. I looked back to see him leaning against the kitchen doorframe, his intense eyes sparkling at me. "Don't forget that I love you!"

I couldn't help myself. I dropped everything I was holding onto the floor, ran back, and jumped into his arms. He caught me and gave me the most beautiful smile in the world.

"I love you too, big guy. I can't live without you." The kiss he gave me took my breath away and made my knees weak.

When I could breathe again, he set me down and walked with me to the door, picking up my purse and folder from the floor and handing them to me.

"I'd walk you to the garage, but I'm only wearing underwear," he smiled, and I desperately wanted to rip those boxers off him, but unfortunately, there wasn't time. I rushed out so I wouldn't be late.

It seemed like things were settling down. For the rest of the week, Flavian appeared less tense and didn't have to work any extra shifts. Over the weekend, we were inseparable - he helped me with my college assignments, and on Sunday, he took me to dinner at a beautiful Italian restaurant. But the following week started with a bang, looking like it was going to be chaos.

The first thing that happened was my mother calling and demanding my address, saying she'd take advantage of the holiday to come visit me. I refused to give her my address again, and she was furious. I was getting used to having my mother angry with me all the time, but if I gave her my address, she'd probably follow through on her threat to drag me back home by my hair.

But soon after, my father called me, in his typical manner - always concerned, but reminding me that I had overlooked something important.

"Yeah, he's not coming to the office, and since there's a holiday this week, things will be pretty quiet here at the executive level," Rick explained.

"Well, who am I to refuse time off?" I grabbed my purse and left laughing with Rick.

"Let's take my car. I'll drop you back here later to get yours. We can talk a bit." Rick seemed somewhat down and appeared to really need to talk, so I easily agreed.

During the drive, he told me that Tess was still upset with him and the atmosphere was tense, but they'd agreed not to bring this problem to the group, so they were pretending everything was fine in public. I felt sad for my friend; he really loved his wife, but things seemed to be rough between them.

When we arrived at the complex, the first thing we saw was Samantha beating up Henry's ex-fling, with Melissa's help. It was difficult to break up the fight, but my detective arrived and restored order to the chaos.

After lunch, we organized a small video game tournament, and I was dominating the game, enjoying seeing the guys' faces as they lost to me. That is, until Flavian received a strange call and had to go to the police station on his day off.

"Little one, I have to go. Stay here and have fun, I'll come back to get you," Flavian told me before leaving.

I just nodded, but something felt very strange there, something was wrong and Flavian didn't want to tell me. He left and took a long time to return, a very long time. When he came back, his serene expression was gone. The worry was visible in his eyes. I was starting to get upset that he wouldn't tell me what was going on.

When we got home, I was very upset. I went straight to the shower. I was washing my hair when I felt his body press against mine.

"What's wrong, little one?" he asked, taking the sponge and pouring liquid soap on it.

"Nothing," I said and continued rinsing my hair. I just heard him sigh.

I was upset and didn't feel like talking at all. I wanted to hide under a comforter and cry until I couldn't feel this tightness in my heart anymore. But I didn't want him to see me crying. He started gently rubbing the sponge all over my body, caressing every curve, as if trying to memorize every contour of my body. I appreciated that intimacy and tenderness, which only made the situation more difficult, because despite all the intimacy we shared, he didn't trust me.

After the shower, I put on pajamas and crawled under the comforter, without conversation, without goodnight kisses. I just lay down with my back to him and closed my eyes.

I felt the mattress sink beside me as he lay down, pulling me against his chest and holding me tight in his arms.

"Good night, little one! Don't forget that I love you!" he whispered in my ear and kissed my head. I could no longer contain the silent tears that wet my face. Something was wrong, but what was it? What? And why wouldn't he talk to me?
