Manuela’s POV
After Sabrina's visit to my classroom, I felt unsettled. I was almost certain that Flavian would hide from me that she had sought him out. But then doubt crept in - did she actually seek him out? And just like that! I was being eaten up by doubts. What seemed like a pointless little visit from Sabrina had become a monster in my head. And the more I thought about it, the more it seemed like the clock hands weren't moving at all.
When class finally ended, I was practically already standing. I rushed out of the classroom and found PH and Lexie walking down the hallway.
"Manu, you should have waited for us inside the classroom," PH complained about my not waiting.
"I know, I know, but I'm tired, I just want to go home," I tried to hide my impatience.
"Tired? Yeah, you must be tired, you and my brother barely sleep and don't let me sleep either. The walls in that apartment are pretty thin, you know?!" Lexie laughed, making a suggestive comment about my activities with my boyfriend.
"Girl, I didn't know you were like that, Manu. That innocent face is just for show!" PH joined in the teasing while I turned red as a tomato.
"Oh, come on, guys! What did you expect? My boyfriend is a Greek god!" I was a bit embarrassed, but I won't deny I was also full of pride about the gorgeous boyfriend I had. "Shall we go, Lexie?"
"Yes, let's go, Manu. PH, we'll keep in touch. I'll try to convince this boring couple to go out with us on Friday." Lexie said goodbye to her new friend, and we headed home.
"Manu, you can't fool me, you've been on edge since Sabrina showed up. What's wrong?" Lexie questioned me as soon as we got in the car.
"Oh, Lexie..." I told her what Sabrina had said to me before they appeared and about my doubts.
"Look, Flavian made a mistake, but I'll tell you this - my brother doesn't make the same mistake twice. Trust him, if they really met, he'll tell you." I reflected on what Lexie said, and she was right. I told Flavian he needed to trust me, so I needed to trust him too.
We got home, but Flavian wasn't there. Where had he gone? I hoped he wasn't starting again with answering strange phone calls and leaving in the middle of the night. My head was full of unpleasant thoughts; I was agitated. I said goodnight to Lexie and went to the bedroom, took a shower, and lay down, but couldn't sleep, so I grabbed a book. Half an hour later, Flavian arrived.
"Beautiful little one, waiting for me?" He smiled and walked toward the bed.
"Can't sleep." He gave me a kiss and took the book from my hands, picked me up, and lifted me off the bed.
"That's good, because now we can talk a bit," he said and sat down in the armchair in the corner of the room with me in his lap.
"And what do you want to talk about?" I asked, feeling my heart race and my hands sweat.
"How was your day?" he asked while kissing my neck.
"Good. Your sister is going to be Patrick's new assistant, she starts tomorrow." He laughed and lifted his head to look at me.
