Manuela’s POV
It was funny how my life was about to change completely, yet at the same time everything would remain the same. I was horrified by everything I had learned in the past few days. I was shocked by what I had read in that diary. And there was still the possibility that I was not Rita's daughter, which was not bad and explained a lot, but it left me anxious.
Flavian was being very attentive to me, the girls called me every day to check how I was doing, Lexie and Rick kept watching over me all the time at the office, and even Peter Hank, my college friend, was worried about me.
In the middle of all this, there was also my parents' divorce, or those who I thought were my parents. My father said Rita is furious about the money. But it is always about money. To begin with, if it had not been for money, she would never have gotten close to my father, and his first wife would still be alive. If it had not been for money, she would not be so desperate to take me back home. If it had not been for money, everything would be different.
"Earth to Manu!" PH was laughing at my distraction. "What world are you in, Manu? You did not even see me coming."
"I was really distracted, PH! But there is so much happening..." I looked at my friend who gave me a warm smile.
"I know, Best Friend, but right now the only thing happening that you can solve is hunger. Break time, let's go to the cafeteria." I had not even noticed the class ending. To be completely honest, I had not even noticed the class passing by, I was present, eyes open, but my mind was somewhere else.
"Ah, Best, I am not even hungry. And I did not want to go to the cafeteria. Would you mind going alone?" I looked at him pleadingly.
"Of course I mind!" He huffed, and I laughed at his theatrical expression. "But I will get the snacks and come back to eat with you, and yes, I will bring you something. Do not move from here, okay?"
I smiled at my friend who blew me a kiss before leaving through the door. I stayed there sitting, watching people coming in and out of the room, until a girl stopped in front of me.
"Miss, there is a man outside who asked me to call you. He is waiting by the door." I knew the girl only by sight, she was new and had ended up hanging out with the trio of gossips in my class and was always there.
"A man?" I looked at her, surprised that someone would be looking for me there.
"Yeah, a big guy with a stern face," she said and continued on her way to her friends.
From the description, it could only be Flavian. Had something happened for him to show up here at college? I got up and went outside the classroom, barely noticing the man who came up behind me and put his hand on my shoulder.
