CH 145
Calvin
He watched her get up and leave the table, and though he’d thought she was about to blame him for their argument and her injury, she’d not. Had put it down to her getting all her memories back and a flood of emotions. Both boys were staring after her. They seemed a bit on the shocked side, and then they turned to him.
He just nodded, he’d only not brought it up because he didn’t want the boys to hear her blame him for what happened. Seems she didn’t do that anyway, and he could see the boys were happy about her having her memories back too. They were now talking a mile a minute about finding out things about her life before they were born.
Calvin sighed internally. They clearly had no idea about his and their mother’s marriage being a contract marriage, and he didn’t really want to tell them that either, or how they’d been conceived. Marilyn had taken issue with that herself. When it had dawned on her last night as well. He’d already figured it out and knew about that, it hadn’t come as a shock to him.
It didn’t particularly bother him, but it did her because she’d not known all the things he’d put into motion or why the divorce was happening. Something they were likely going to have to talk about still. She’d been upset with him, and though she’d said it was due to a sudden flood of emotions, he didn’t doubt her. He could well
imagine that she’d been hit with all that pain and hurt she’d spoken of to him last night as well.
Likely still was trying to deal with it, but she’d called him Calvin last night and this morning, no more Mr Reeves, something he hated hearing come from her. But had to try and understand that it was because she didn’t recall him and hadn’t known him. But now she did recall him, and just needed time to come to the
realisation that he’d loved her.
That he still did in fact love her and wanted her, he found his mothers‘ eyes on him, and she sighed a little but said nothing. He wouldn’t push Marilyn into anything, as much as he would love to just pull her into his arms and kiss the hell out of her. It wasn’t likely going to be that easy. She was now going to be mad at him about why the divorce happened, he could well imagine.
They were supposed to go back to Cliffside today for the remaining few days. She and the boys were going to be here, but he also didn’t think she should drive her car while she could barely walk. He waited for her to come from that room, and she was dressed in jeans and a tee–shirt much like he was, and her hair was pulled up into a ponytail.
She called for the boys to go and get dressed, that they’d be leaving soon, and they just hopped up and went and did what they were told. He sighed internally and approached the subject once more. “Marilyn, I still don’t think you should drive on that ankle. I’m happy to drive us all out to Cliffside and then bring you back here when you and the boys are ready to go back to Virginia on the third. You can leave your car here until then.”
She stared at him for a long moment and then just stated “Fine.” as she sat on the lounge.
He sat down himself to the lounge next to her, as he saw his parents go to their room to presumably pack to leave as well, though his mother was ushering his father as if to give them time alone.
“I understand you’re not the same person, that I am not the same person either. That, yes, our lives have both moved on for the past eight years. I also don’t expect you to be Marrin from when we were married, if that is

what you’re thinking.” He told her, he didn’t even want that.
“Certainly, sounded as though that’s what you expected,” she stated.
“I just don’t want to fight in front of the boys,” he told her. “They don’t need to see that. Parents shouldn’t fight in front of their young children. Things like that, I believe, should be kept behind closed doors is all.
“I’d like for us to get along like we once used to, as well. We did get along, had a lot in common, likely we still do,” he told her. “I’ve also been reading your books as well. Interesting it is what you write. I can even see how
you came to do it. Games are just stories. All you did was go from coding to the written word, and you did it
very well.”
“Why would you do that, read them? They are tallored to female readers.” She frowned at him.
“I was simply curious. I’m only on your fifth book, but Anabell tells me the Born Light and Dark series is a
must–read.” He smiled at her. “She still loves your work, loved it even before she knew who you were.”
“Hmm, I know.” She nodded. “You don’t have to read them, you know, I didn’t expect you to.”
“I’m certain that won’t be needed,” she told him simply. “I’ll be fine, likely by tomorrow afternoon, the swelling
“Yes, they are, or yours is. Mine is actually the same. What I want is for you to let me back into your life. For us to find a way to reconnect properly, as Marilyn and Calvin. Get engaged and married once more, properly this time, I will do it the right way he smiled a little. “Maybe have a little girl in the future.”
