Welcome Home – Part I

Pulling up to the villa, Juniper’s throat felt sealed tighter than when one of her men wrapped their big hands around it. Her breath was caught at the sight in front of her.
“Pretty isn’t it?” Adil whispered in her car as he leaned over her while Phineas was greeting the staff. “Imagine being an eighteen–year–old kid with too much money in the bank and sees this for the first time with a for sale sign on it.” He nodded to Phineas, “look at his face, Juniper. This is home to him. More than the condo he lives in or Beni’s that he crashes all the time or even his parent’s house, this is his real home. He’s really excited you are here.”
“Juniper,” Phineas extended his hand to her, and she walked to him, and he moved her to stand in front of him, his hands resting on her shoulders. “This is my housekeeper and head of staff, Lucia. Lucia, this is my fiancée Juniper. Your sole objective whenever she is here is to make sure she is taken care of, Lucia.”
“Of course,” Lucia nodded politely. “It is our pleasure to welcome you.”
“Let’s go inside and we’ll give you a quick tour before bed. Lucia prepared a late breakfast for us on the patio. We’ll get cleaned up, eat and then take a siesta.”
“A siesta?” she looked over her shoulder at him.
“A nap, sweetheart,” he chuckled at her frown.

sleep?”
Beni’s laugh made her frown at him too.

“Sunshine, we’re all exhausted. We’re here for ten full days. There is lots of time to explore. You need rest. I need rest. Adil and Phineas also need rest. My eyelids hurt, I’m so tired.” He leaned sideways to greet Lucia with a kiss to both her cheeks and greeted her in rapid Spanish and she giggled at whatever he said as if she were a fifteen–year–old girl instead of the grey–haired woman standing in front of them. He winked at Juniper, “don’t get jealous but Lucia was my first crush.”
She laughed at his antics. “I promise I’m not jealous.”
Adil greeted Lucia the same way and then nodded to the three staff who were greeting the second vehicle which was arriving with their luggage. “Clothes are here. I need a shower. I smell like a homeless man on a city bus. Lucia, can you have my bags brought straight to Phineas‘ room.”
At Lucia’s frown, Phineas said something in Spanish which made the woman’s eyes widen momentarily before she collected herself like the professional she was. She gave a nod to Adil, a confused look at Phineas and Beni and a curious glance at Juniper before she excused herself to direct the staff.
“What did you say to her?” Juniper asked Phineas.
“I told her the four of us would be sharing my room on this trip.”
“She seems surprised.”

“She should be. We’ve never actually all slept in the same room while we’re here. You’re the glue, baby.” Adil laughed at her frown. “Come on.”
Entering the house with Phineas‘ arm wrapped around her shoulders, Juniper was in awe. It was light and airy with big windows and a direct view of the sea. Everything was a creamy white with big arches and warm wood tones accenting the space.
She escaped Phineas grip to run to the open patio doors and gave a squeal of excitement at the view. “Oh my god! Look at his view. It’s incredible.” Tears filled her eyes as she struggled to control her emotions, “I never thought I’d see such a thing in my lifetime and look at it. It’s breathtaking. It’s making me very emotional.”
Looking over her shoulder, she saw the three men staring at her with adoring smiles and Lucia was not far behind with a wide smile of her own.
“You are so lucky to live in such a beautiful place, Lucia!” she exclaimed excitedly as her hands held the balustrade, and she leaned back towards the view.
Lucia waved to another spot inside the house and called out something to Phineas and he gave a nod.
“What did she say?”
“She said, if you like that view, you’ll love the view from the terrace. This is the breakfast patio. Come, let’s show you the terrace.”

“I do. It makes me feel better to carry you. You infuse energy into me, sweetheart.” He kissed the top of her head with a tender smile. “Your energy is infectious, and I want to run a line straight to my veins with it. I’m hoping to absorb it like I do vitamin D in the sun.”
She snickered, “I was worried the only vitamin D I was getting on this trip was going to be from the sun. So glad I talked you out of your madness.”
He threw his head back and laughed, the loud sound echoing around the room and she noted Lucia stopped in her tracks to look at the couple. A wide smile pulled Lucia’s cheeks at the sound, and she made a nodding motion as she disappeared towards another room.
Phineas carried Juniper onto the terrace and adjusted her in his arms. “Well?”
She stared at the unhindered view of the white sand below, the crystalline clear azure water and the fluffy clouds which dotted the horizon. Sailboats bobbed on the bay and a sweet citrusy scent filled the air. She inhaled deeply struggling not to cry at the view. This was everything her single parent raised former self never thought she’d ever see in her lifetime. Knowing now her heritage stemmed from this land was making her even more emotional.
“I never thought I’d be in such a stunning place.” She whispered as tears streamed down her cheeks. 4/5
