Juniper felt the unconditional love and support of her mother blooming in her chest, and she smiled and rested her hand on Maeve’s hand. “It’s okay, Mama.”
“I simply don’t understand why he thinks he has the right to threaten your partners.”
“Simply because I have only known of my daughter a few days, Maeve, doesn’t mean I can’t love her already. The moment I looked into her eyes, I felt the need to protect my daughter. I know you think this is something which needs to build up or be earned, but I cannot simply turn off the love I immediately felt the moment I met her.”
Maeve’s nostrils flared but Fermín continued speaking.
“It is no different than a daddy in the delivery room holding their baby for the first time and feeling the overwhelming need to love and protect their child for all time. “I don’t need the DNA connect, Maeve. I just want her to mother my children. Whether we adopt or use a surrogate or we have babies of our own, I only want her to be their mother. I want to watch her fulfill every dream she’s had in her life, and I want to be part of it. I know, from the moment she fell apart in my arms when she lost her baby just over a month ago, that her heartbreak was real. She wanted it so desperately and fuck me if I won’t beg, borrow or steal to give it to her.” He smiled at Juniper with a crooked tilt to his mouth, “so yeah, I knew from the first time I ever held her in my arms, I wanted a family with her.”
“See, he gets it.” Fermín grinned at Maeve. “Blame the Spanish blood.”
“Blame the cock,” Anna said shocking the other two women and causing them to burst into laughter.
