Chaos Part II
“But not at the same time!”
“I want her out of here now.”
“Not until I expose her. She’s a whore!”
The murmurs were getting louder, and Juniper suddenly realizing why Kyst thought she’d be humiliated tonight and would be willing to run to him for comfort. She was feeling all eyes on her, and her cheeks were burning bright. Denise’s words seemed to be making more than a few people send judgmental glances her way.
“Denise, the morning after our wedding, I caught you stealing from my wallet while you were telling your friend on the phone how you’d married money. You quit your job. You refused to work. You were spending in excess of fifty thousand dollars a month. You were unwilling to reign it in. When your grandfather got sick, you extorted my family into making me marry you. I didn’t like you before we were forced to be engaged, but I learned to loathe you when I learned the kind of games you played. You were cheating on me before we said I do, and I proved it in court. You breached our prenup. Everything which has happened since then is because you’re nuts.” Phineas waved at the guards, “I want her out of here now.”
“Why does the slut get to stay but I need to leave?” she screamed as tears streamed down her face. She waved at the onlooking crowd, “does this seem fair to any of you? I’ve known this family my whole life and I get tossed aside but the bitch who made three best friends share a bed gets to stay?”
Adil wrapped his arms around Juniper and pulled her to his chest, “Phineas, get this bitch out of here now.”
Phineas looked at Juniper and his face set into hard angry lines, and he waved at the guards, “get her out now. My wife is miserable and it’s her fault.” He looked at Juniper, “sweetheart, ignore her shit. She’s had charges laid against her and she knows she’s going to jail for a long time and so she’s trying to take us down with her. We’re not letting it happen.”
“Juniper,” a man’s voice cut in.
“Kyst, you’re here. You made it.” Denise moved to grab him by the arm. “Tell them. The everyone how you treated her like she was a queen, and she left you for three men.”
“Who the fuck is this guy?” Phineas‘ grandfather called out.
“He’s the guy I had an affair with, Juniper’s husband Kyst.”
“Ex–husband. I received my divorce papers,” Juniper spoke up clearing her throat. “We’re divorced. You are crashing 38:31 birthday party, Kyst? What the hell is wrong with you?”
“It feels more a witch hunt.” Kyst spoke coldly, “Phineas, you’re letting her get railroaded like this and not doing anything about it?”
“Actually, Kyst,” Juniper gave a laugh, “you all played right into it.”
“Into what?” Suddenly Denise seemed confused.
“That man who walked you in, Denise, we told him to.” Phineas spoke up. “Kyst, take a look around this room. Most of these people are my family and my friends and the ones associated with my grandfather. The ones who aren’t, take a look around, Kyst. Take a good hard look at the faces you might recognize.‘
“I don’t recognize any of them,” he commented curiously and then his eyes met the woman who’d thrown coffee at him. “What is this?”
“This? This is a gift for you, Kyst. We invited all your online lovers; the ones you gave promises of how you’d treat them like goddesses as soon as you divorced your wife. We found the chat logs,” Juniper snorted. “All the things you said to get money from unsuspecting single women. All they wanted was to be loved and wanted and you were slutting it up for them.” She looked at Denise who was now being held by two guards, “for the record, the difference between what you did in
cheating on your husband with mine and my relationship with Phineas, Adil and Beni is called consent. We have a loving consensual relationship which allows us to be with each other openly and freely. We’re not going out to screw around outside of our commitment. We are committed to each other; me to them, them to me. I know where they sleep every night, and they know where I am. There is no sneaking around. There is no lying. I also don’t need to try to swindle their money.”
“You’re broke.” Denise spat. “I’ve been in your apartment.”
“Actually, she’s a billionaire many times over,” Fermín’s voice called in as he entered the fray. “My daughter has no need to try to take money from a man when she has her own.”
“Who are you?” Denise demanded as Kyst stared at Fermín.
“My father, Fermín Aguado.” Juniper smiled at him as he approached and moved to slide under his arm, “hi Dad.” She kissed his cheek.
“You’re Juniper’s father,” Carl came out of the woodwork. “My name is –”
“You can shut up, Carl Kennedy. I know who you are. I’m more interested in Lois.” Fermín said with a glint in his eye as he dropped a kiss to Juniper’s head. “Which woman here is Lois, sweetheart?”
“She is.” Juniper pointed to Lois who looked incredibly uncomfortable.
Q+2 Bonus
“Ah, I have a gift for you, Mrs. Kennedy.” Fermín held out a USB to her. “This is your copy but for all the world to hear, let’s listen to your husband’s opinion of women. If you think any of the men who love Juniper, either me as her father, her grandfathers, her husbands,” he waved at Phineas, Adil and Beni, “her fathers–in–law,” he motioned to Phin, Frasier and Gonzalo, “none of us are going to permit her to return to a family which treats women as things.”
Carl frowned, “what is that?”
Suddenly the music was stopped and the very clear
conversation from Kyst and his father from the prior Monday was being played from every speaker. Lois‘ legs buckled as she reached for Kyst who raced to hold her up.
“Jesus Christ, Juniper, you’d hurt my mom like this?” Kyst looked at her in stunned shock.
“You don’t leave me any choice, Kyst. Your entire family continues to harass me, over and over again. Now, for all the world to hear, this is a small drop in the ocean of the information I gathered about you. Leave this party and leave my life and don’t ever come back.” She looked at Carl, “that
USB has the proof of all your affairs over the years, including 31 576 the one you had with my aunt. Lois, I suggest you get a good
divorce lawyer.”
Lois was pale, her lips trembling as Carl’s voice was on repeat telling her son how she was not worth more than good head. “How could you?”
“Lois, honey,” he tried to approach her, but she held her hand
“Kyst get me out of here. I don’t feel well.” Lois whispered clutching at him.
Juniper, you went too far with this,” Kyst glared at her.
“Did I or have I finally made my point? I think you and your family are scum. I am making it incredibly clear we will never get together again. I hate you. I hate him,” she pointed at Carl, “and we’re done. Stay away or next time,” her words fell away as a loud bang echoed through the room, followed by screaming. She looked in horror as one of the women Kyst had led on fired a gun and shot him in the chest.
