Clive watched Amelia walk away. He clenched his jaw, then finally shouted after her, voice tight with frustration. “Amelia! You’ve known me since you were twelve. We’ve shared fifteen years together... I know I let you down. But I can’t believe you really feel nothing for me now!”
To Amelia, his words were almost funny. She didn’t even bother looking back as she headed straight through the gates.
Clive just stood there, frozen, watching her until she disappeared inside. He shut his eyes, stood still for a moment, then turned back to his car.
He drove around the city with no real destination, just looping the same blocks. His reflection in the rearview mirror looked as stormy as he felt inside.
Amelia’s cold, unbothered face kept flashing through his mind. Frustration tangled in his chest until he slammed his fist on the steering wheel. The horn blared, sharp and angry.
This wasn’t how it was supposed to be.
After she saw what kind of person Ryan really was, Amelia should have wanted nothing to do with him...
He remembered her words, echoing in his head. If I ever get married, if I ever grow old with someone, that person will only be Ryan.
Clive squeezed his eyes shut, his thoughts a mess.
Right then, his phone started ringing. He glanced at the screen, his expression darkening. Liana.
He hung up without a second thought.
Instead, he called Michael. Just as he figured, Michael was starting his night out. Clive got the address and hit the gas.
Meanwhile, in a women’s dorm across town, Liana walked in with a basin in her hands. She found her roommates, Gabby and Rila, standing by her desk, messing around with her phone while it charged.
They didn’t notice her come in.
Gabby was whispering, barely holding back a laugh. “Did you see? He’s not even answering her calls. What’s the use of having Salmeron’s number if the big boss doesn’t care?”
Rila snorted. “She probably thinks that just because she drove him once, she’s going to become Mrs. Salmeron.”
Gabby rolled her eyes. “Yeah, well, she is pretty. Poor and pretty girls always dream big… Ow!”
She didn’t get to finish—Liana had hurled the basin behind them.
“What the hell?” Gabby spun around, glaring, but her face fell when she saw Liana’s icy expression.
