**Broken Doesn’t Mean End**
**By M. Kaushik**
**Chapter 59**

The setting was idyllic, a perfect blend of elements that seemed to conspire to alleviate Felix’s suffering during the needling therapy. The sun hung low in the sky, casting a warm golden hue that bathed the gazebo in a soft glow, while a gentle breeze whispered through the trees, carrying with it the scent of blooming flowers.

Inside the gazebo, a custom-made therapy bed crafted from rich rosewood awaited him, its surface polished to a gleam. Rows of meticulously arranged needles glimmered in the light, alongside various other tools of the trade, each one promising relief yet evoking a sense of trepidation.

As Felix was wheeled in, two maids approached with delicate care, assisting him in lying down on the bed. He could feel the tension in his body, every muscle coiled tightly as if bracing for an impending storm.

The Walcotts, along with the maids, stood in a tight circle around him, their anxiety palpable in the air. It felt as though they were holding their breath, afraid to disturb the fragile atmosphere that enveloped them.

“I-I’m ready, Helen,” Felix managed to say, his voice trembling slightly, betraying the calm facade he was trying to maintain. His hands fidgeted nervously on his thighs, betraying his inner turmoil.

Helen, standing at his side, offered an encouraging nod as she gently lifted the blanket to cover him. “Grandpa, you need to relax. If you stay tense, your nerves will tighten up, and the pain will only double.” Her voice was soothing, yet firm, as she tried to coax him into a state of ease.

Felix inhaled deeply, attempting to gather his scattered thoughts and quell the rising tide of anxiety swelling within him.

“Hmm? Where’s Wendy?” Rebecca’s voice broke through the tension, her eyes scanning the area as she realized her adopted daughter was absent. A frown creased her brow. “Did she cry so much last night that she overslept?”

Alexander, ever the supportive partner, wrapped an arm around Rebecca’s shoulders, offering her a sense of comfort. “She had a rough day yesterday. It’s likely she didn’t sleep at all,” he replied, his tone gentle. “It’s alright. Let her rest. She wouldn’t be much help here anyway.”

He turned his gaze to Helen, his expression softening. “Helen, don’t stress yourself out. Just do what you can. We trust you.”

Rebecca nodded vigorously, her eyes filled with determination. “Exactly. Don’t carry the weight of the world on your shoulders. Whatever happens, we’re family. We can handle it together.”

“Right. Just take a deep breath,” Hector chimed in, trying to lighten the mood with his reassuring presence.

Felix attempted to project cheerfulness, even as his heart raced with apprehension. “That’s right, Helen. I’m just an old bag of bones. If this works, it’ll feel like hitting the jackpot. If it doesn’t, well, I’ve had my fair share of life. I’ll take whatever comes next in stride.” He patted his chest as he spoke, trying to inject a sense of bravado into the moment.

Helen stood momentarily speechless, her own nerves surprisingly calm. It was clear to her that the real tension lay with the others, who were anxious about her ability to perform the procedure without mishap. They were worried she might bear the weight of blame if things didn’t go as planned.
