Love Me Back (Amelia and Daniel) novel Chapter 343

Grandma Edith noticed the stern look on Amelia’s face and realized the matter was serious. She sent Nora out of the room, then took Amelia’s hand and sat her down, her tone turning firm. “Don’t talk about ‘asking’ for help. Your problem is the Campbell family’s problem. We’ll always have your back. Always.”

Amelia spoke plainly. “Grandma, I want to cut off all of Daniel’s support for Violet. Everything he’s ever given her—whatever Violet’s taken from the Campbell family—I want it all back.”

Grandma Edith was stunned for a split second, then her eyes lit up with delight. “You’ve finally come to your senses! Yes, we’ll cut her off—completely. As long as you and Daniel work things out, I promise we’ll make a clean break.”

Amelia pressed her lips together. “Grandma, I’m still getting divorced. I want the money back, too.”

She risked a glance at her grandmother, feeling a pang of guilt.

If she were planning to stay with Daniel, it would all make sense—the wife putting the mistress in her place, righteous and proper. But she wasn’t planning to stay. She was on her way out, and before she left, she was about to turn the whole house upside down. No matter how she spun it, it felt almost shameless.

But she couldn’t help it.

Taking on Daniel—and Morgan—by herself was nearly impossible. But she refused to just swallow her anger and walk away.

So she swallowed her pride and came to the Campbell family for help.

Whether it would work or not, she had to try.

Amelia’s heart was pounding in her chest, anxiety churning in her gut. When Grandma Edith didn’t immediately respond, two words echoed in her mind: No chance.

But after a brief moment of silence, Grandma Edith simply picked up her phone and dialed.

“Ethan,” she said, addressing Mr. Ethan Campbell, “get the very best attorney from the firm over here. Right now. What for?”

“There’s got to be some mistake!” Violet protested, refusing to believe it. “Do you even know what kind of relationship I have with Mr. Campbell? If you dare fire me, are you all planning to quit too?”

The HR manager remembered Violet well. When she’d been hired, her diploma from the Silkwood Institute of Technology was impressive enough to make any company fight to recruit her.

But it didn’t take long to realize that a degree didn’t always equal ability. Violet’s name was always at the bottom of the department’s performance reviews. Worse, she went around bragging about her special relationship with Mr. Campbell, as if she were someone truly important.

If she really had such powerful connections, why wasn’t she working at headquarters? Why settle for a branch office like IntelliQuip? Mr. Campbell only showed up here a few times a month for major projects—most of the time, he was based at HQ.

Offices with a lot of women always seemed to breed drama, and someone like Violet—pretty, but with a sharp tongue and zero tact—was bound to make enemies.

The HR manager sneered. “It’s not about whether I want to keep my job—it’s that you can’t keep yours. The decision’s based on your overall performance. Dismissal during the probation period is perfectly within policy. If you don’t like it, take it up with labor arbitration.”
