Love Me Back (Amelia and Daniel) novel Chapter 352

“It’s none of your business.” With that, Amelia hung up, blocked his number, and relished the peace.

Robert glanced over. “He still won’t sign the divorce papers?”

“We’re already in the middle of the lawsuit.” Amelia took the file from his hands. “Let’s not waste time on irrelevant people. We’ve got work to do.”

Meanwhile, the so-called “irrelevant person” tried to call again, only to discover he’d been blocked. He fumed for a while, but when his anger faded, he caved and drove straight to the research institute.

Getting in was impossible—the security there was airtight, and outsiders weren’t allowed past the gates. Daniel had no choice but to park outside and stake out the entrance.

When had the arrogant Mr. Campbell ever done anything like this? Yet here he was, lurking all day from bright morning to deep dusk.

He waited and waited until, finally, a familiar car rolled out of the institute’s main gate.

Daniel sprang into action, starting his own car and pulling out to block their path with a decisive swerve.

Amelia hit the brakes. She was about to mutter about lunatics on the road when she saw her soon-to-be ex-husband striding toward them.

The window was still down. Daniel immediately spotted Robert in the passenger seat and couldn’t even pretend to be magnanimous. “Don’t you have anything better to do than stick to someone else’s wife all day, Mr. Rubin?”

Robert turned and smiled, calm as ever. “I have plenty to do. I only just got off work.”

Amelia was surprised to hear Robert explain himself, but then he added, “Mr. Campbell, do you have plans? We were just heading out for a late bite. Care to join us?”

Amelia shot him a look.

Robert arched an eyebrow, saying nothing, but Amelia caught on right away—he was looking to rile Daniel up a little more.

She had to hand it to him. After a long day at work, he somehow still had the energy for theatrics.

Daniel sneered, “Seems like you know your way around this car, Mr. Rubin.”

Robert smiled serenely. “I ride here often. Familiarity comes naturally.”

Amelia drew a slow breath. “Let’s just get out for a drink. We’re almost there.”

With that, she pressed down on the gas and sped up, saying nothing more.

Their late-night stop was a restaurant famous for its shrimp dishes.

Robert went in first, leading the way to a private booth, but didn’t sit down. Daniel pulled his lips into a tight, mocking smile and remained standing as well.

Amelia felt a headache coming on. Under the silent but palpable tension radiating from both men, she simply picked a seat at random and hurried to sit down.
