“What?!” Cathy’s eyes widened in disbelief, her expression practically a meme.
Compared to Cathy’s shock, Amelia looked absurdly composed. “That’s why I’m not thrilled to deal with him. But work is work—money never comes easy, and sometimes, neither does the food.”
Cathy opened and closed her mouth a few times, struggling to process it all. “…Wait. Why did you two get divorced, again?”
Realizing she might be prying, she gave an awkward little laugh. “I mean, just curious. You don’t have to tell me if you don’t want to.”
Amelia smiled mildly. “It’s nothing I can’t say.”
She beckoned Cathy closer with her finger. When Cathy leaned in, Amelia lowered her voice to a whisper. “He’s got… issues. Can’t get it up, or if he does, it’s over in seconds. I was never satisfied.”
Cathy’s jaw dropped. She sat there, stunned, trying to recover from the bombshell.
When they arrived at Urban Feast, Daniel was chatting with the director about the upcoming airshow. He jerked his chin at the waiter, gesturing for the menu to be passed to Amelia. “Let her order.”
Amelia took charge, ordering a generous spread—lamb stew, oysters with steamed eggs, scrambled eggs with chives, and a hearty walnut and pork kidney broth.
Cathy glanced at the dishes Amelia chose and shot her a look that said, “You’re something else—still looking after your ex even after the divorce.”
She sighed.
“Why do you keep sighing?” Daniel suddenly turned and asked Cathy.
Caught off guard by his strikingly handsome face, Cathy could only feel a pang of regret. How could someone look this perfect—face, body, the whole package—and yet be such a disappointment beneath it all? It was just… a shame.
Amelia poured Cathy a glass of juice and slid it over. “You must be exhausted. Haven’t really had a break since the science expo started, huh?”
“Yeah, it’s been tough on all the young folks working the expo,” the director chimed in, seamlessly steering the conversation back to the airshow.
Dishes started arriving, one after another.

How come in every novel I read on here the women don’t tell the men they are the father of their child? I find this ridiculous....
