Love Me Back (Amelia and Daniel) novel Chapter 367

“Why not find someone else to fall for?” Amelia consoled him with the easy warmth of an older sister. “There are plenty of fish in the sea, Daniel. Once you move past this patch, you’ll see there are brighter flowers ahead—no need to stay stuck in one place forever.”

Daniel’s gaze softened, his voice turning velvet-smooth—dangerously so for anyone without ironclad self-control. “Plenty of flowers, yes. But there’s only one you, Amelia. It’s not that I haven’t seen beauty in the world. I’ve seen it all, and you’re still the best of them.”

Oh, brother.

Listen to that—Daniel and his silver tongue.

Anyone madly in love would melt at those words: you’ve seen all the wonders of the world, but I’m still the most beautiful sight. But from another angle, isn’t that just classic playboy talk?

He’s loved before, played the field before, and after all the back-and-forth, he claims you’re the best. At least for now. Who knows if another flower will catch his eye down the road?

Amelia gave a little half-smile but kept her tone soothing. “It’s enough to have loved and experienced it. Most people never even meet their soulmate, you know? Things are beautiful because they live in our memories, filtered through nostalgia. Honestly, this is just right for us—a peaceful divorce, wishing each other well. Later, when we think back, we can still smile. If we run into each other on the street, we’ll say hello without a second thought. Isn’t that nice?”

Daniel pressed his forehead to her collarbone, silent for a moment. “Amelia, you’d make a hell of a motivational speaker. I bet you’d be running the place in no time.”

Amelia rolled her eyes but said nothing.

He sighed. “If I divorced you, and pictured you with another man—in his arms—I wouldn’t be smiling about it. I’d want to kill him. I’d want to break every finger that’s ever touched you and feed them to the dogs.”

Amelia’s mouth twitched. She’d met stubborn people before, but none this stubborn and this obsessive at the same time.

She was about to reply when Daniel’s phone rang. Seizing the opportunity, Amelia slipped off his lap. “You should answer that.”

Daniel’s annoyance was obvious, even in the way he picked up the phone—he hadn’t heard what he wanted from her.

Amelia didn’t see who was calling, nor did she notice when Daniel’s brow furrowed.
