Mr. Ken scrambled to his feet, his face a mix of embarrassment and annoyance. Being scared out of his wits by a fake snake and knocking over his chair—he’d never live it down if word got out.
Mogan hastily brushed the dust from Mr. Ken’s slacks, then turned to the server with a stern voice. “What happened here?” The young man looked like he was on the verge of tears. He had no idea.
Just then, Mr. Ken’s phone rang. He answered, listened for a moment, and his expression shifted through several emotions before he hung up.
Mogan motioned for the server to fetch the manager. Pranks or not, something like this had no place at a golf course meant for business meetings.
“Forget it,” Mr. Ken said at last. “Mr. White, let’s call off our partnership.”
Mogan froze, then rushed to recover. “Mr. Ken, this is nothing—just a trivial mishap. It won’t affect our collaboration—”
Mr. Ken cut him off with a wave. “Mr. White, we’re both businessmen. Harmony is the key, right? If there’s one thing I’ve learned climbing up from nothing, it’s that luck and timing matter more than skill. Last time it was cockroaches, this time a snake and chips—two accidents in a row. Maybe it’s a sign our partnership isn’t meant to be.”
Mogan’s anxiety spiked, but before he could protest, Mr. Ken silenced him. “Enough. Let’s end things on a good note. Maybe we’ll work together another time. No need to say more.”
Months of work, wasted in an instant. Fury boiled inside Mogan, rising in waves.
After Amelia blocked his number, he drove straight to the Campbell Group.
When Daniel finished his meeting and returned to his office, he wasn’t surprised to find Mogan waiting, sprawled on the sofa. He smiled in greeting. “To what do I owe the pleasure, Mr. White?”

How come in every novel I read on here the women don’t tell the men they are the father of their child? I find this ridiculous....
