Daniel looked like a kid denied candy, the corners of his mouth tugging downward in disappointment.
For a moment, an almost magical connection sparked between them as their eyes met. The shoot wrapped in just one take, and the cameraman couldn’t stop marveling at the footage, watching it again and again, each time more satisfied than the last.
“I’ve got a feeling this promo is going to go viral.”
It was, after all, just a standard company promo—no celebrities, no intricate plot, just a last-minute set change and a handful of employees. Nobody really took the cameraman’s words seriously.
After lunch, everyone took an hour to rest before jumping straight into a round of interviews that afternoon.
Most of the questions were routine, the kind you’d expect for collecting PR material. The answers, equally rehearsed.
As the session was wrapping up, the journalist noticed Daniel seemed to be in a good mood. She ventured, “Mr. Campbell, we have about thirty minutes left—would you be willing to do a one-on-one interview?”
Daniel’s interviews were notoriously hard to land; until now, only a financial heavyweight like Silkwood Business had ever snagged one. The journalist wasn’t about to let this opportunity slip by.
Daniel lounged back in his chair, one arm draped casually over the armrest, his posture leaning ever so slightly toward Amelia.
“Sure,” he replied, a hint of a grin flickering in his eyes. Even the smallest glance from him seemed to spark electricity, and the young journalist felt her heart skip a beat.
“But she can’t leave,” Daniel added, nodding toward Amelia. “I get lonely sitting here by myself.”

Daniel raised his arm from the chair, flexing his left hand so that the ring on his fourth finger caught the light. “Apparently, I didn’t buy a large enough ring. People seem to miss it all the time.”

Amelia listened with half an ear, only to realize, startled, that the conversation had turned to her.
Daniel glanced at her out of the corner of his eye, a soft smile on his lips. “Of course. My wife is every bit as remarkable as Chief Amelia.”

How come in every novel I read on here the women don’t tell the men they are the father of their child? I find this ridiculous....
