Amelia ignored the comments, mentally burying her head in the sand like an ostrich. No matter how wild things got online, she pretended not to notice. Whatever, let people ship them all they want before the press conference—the buzz was good for them. It’d all get cleared up soon anyway.

That was her plan, but someone was determined to drag her out of hiding.

Sophia shoved a printout of the latest viral fanfic right under Amelia’s nose. “Babe, if I didn’t know what a jerk Daniel really is, I’d be shipping you two myself.”

Amelia didn’t dare read those steamy scenes. She just glimpsed the page and noticed Sophia had even left a like. “Why’d you like this?”

Sophia grinned slyly. “Long nights, you know? A little spicy reading helps me fall asleep.”

Spicy fanfic as a sleep aid? And starring her and Daniel? Amelia’s face turned a shade greener.

Sophia just kept grinning, getting more mischievous by the second. “Honestly, the writing’s pretty good. Some of it got me blushing so hard I had to get up for a glass of cold water. Most fanfics are so generic, but with you two, I can picture every scene—makes it ten times hotter.”

Amelia’s face was now practically emerald.

That night, maybe it was Sophia’s teasing, but Amelia couldn’t get that phrase, “ten times hotter,” out of her mind.

Clearly, it had just been too long. No need to be embarrassed—everyone’s got needs. It was perfectly normal to lose a little self-control now and then.

Standing under the icy spray, Amelia focused on her breathing, letting the cold water douse the fire burning inside her.

When she was done, she turned off the shower and reached for her underwear on the rack.

Soaked. Useless. She’d dashed in so fast earlier, she hadn’t brought a change.

Biting her lip, she wrapped herself in a towel and opened the door to fetch a clean pair.

She’d barely taken a few steps before she came face-to-face with Daniel, who was standing by the bed.

His voice came out low and teasing. “If I’d known I’d get to see a view like this, I’d have come by every night.”
