Amelia didn’t buy for a second that Daniel hadn’t seen how their names were blowing up online. But then again, as a CEO with a million things clamoring for his attention, maybe he really hadn’t noticed this kind of tabloid gossip. She gave him a nudge: “Check out the trending topics in the local news.”

There was a pause on the line—Daniel was probably looking it up. After a moment, he summed it up: “Nice shots. We should give the photographers a bonus.”

“That’s not the point,” Amelia pressed. “The problem is that things are heating up way too much. You need to do something to dial it down.”

Daniel sounded amused. “What’s the problem? Looks pretty normal to me. We’re a perfect match, a power couple. Of course everyone’s interested.”

Amelia rolled her eyes at his shamelessness and snapped, “Will you do it or not?”

“Sure.” Daniel’s lazy drawl was laced with a smile. “If you want to keep a lid on it, I’ll do it for you.”

“Daniel!”

He always loved to wind her up until she was bristling like a cat. Only then did he relent, his tone slow and indulgent: “Alright, alright, if Her Majesty commands it, how could I refuse? I’ll take care of it. How about a kiss as a reward?”

Amelia ended the call with a sharp click. If they’d been face-to-face, she probably would have chucked her phone at his head.

Meanwhile, the Head of PR wasn’t at all surprised to be summoned to Mr. Campbell’s office. He’d been expecting it—and he’d come prepared.

Instead of approval, he was met with a cold, razor-sharp stare.

“So you’re so good at guessing what I want—should I let you have my job instead?” Daniel’s words sliced through the air.

The PR manager stiffened, a chill running down his back.

Daniel sounded genuinely puzzled. “I handed it off to PR. Didn’t they handle it? Let me call them in.”
