Love Me Back (Amelia and Daniel) novel Chapter 406

Disappointed? Maybe a little, but not as much as she'd expected.

It hurt, though. Even if she pretended not to care about being so callously abandoned, her heart still ached, sharp and relentless.

All the tension in Amelia’s body drained away, leaving her feeling foolish—how ridiculous to think she could use Ruby to influence his choice.

If her hands hadn’t been tied, she might have slapped herself.

It was like being stabbed twice in the same spot.

A wound that had finally scabbed over—if you never picked at it, it would never hurt again. But now, not only had someone ripped it open, they’d taken a fresh blade to the raw flesh beneath.

Amelia closed her eyes, too exhausted to even feel angry anymore.

Samuel let out a bitter, mocking laugh. The outcome had been exactly what he’d predicted. He waved at the screen in a casual goodbye. “Well, then, let me congratulate you in advance, Mr. Campbell. Hope you and your precious soulmate live happily ever after. Before I go, though, I’ve got a special gift for you.”

On Daniel’s screen, two burly men appeared behind him. Samuel’s eyes narrowed, his voice filled with venom. “Break him.”

Violet didn’t even have time to scream before the video call cut out.

Samuel untied the rope binding Amelia’s wrists, then yanked her roughly to her feet. “Come on, sweetheart. Let’s go start our new life on that island paradise of ours.”

Life with a psycho like him would be worse than death.

Amelia considered ramming her head into him—at least then it would be over, and maybe she’d take him down with her.

Suddenly, the door crashed open.

Crash!

Chapter 406 1

Her insult caught in her throat. “...Who are you?”

The man squinted at her, his gaze crawling over her with oily intent. Violet shrank back, the chair wobbling precariously. She tumbled backward, hitting the floor with a thud, still bound.

“D-don’t come any closer…”

Scrambling upright as best she could, she scooted away on her backside, wrists still tied. “My bodyguard’s right outside… Someone help! Please!”

The man grinned, revealing a mouthful of yellowed teeth. “You really think I’d be in here if your bodyguards weren’t taken care of?”

She backed up until her shoulders hit the wall; there was nowhere left to run. The man unbuckled his belt, letting it fall to the floor with a thud. “Mr. Wilson already paid.”
