Love Me Back (Amelia and Daniel) novel Chapter 417

Violet called Mogan, who was all the way out in Elm City.

When he answered, his voice sounded weak. “Violet, what’s wrong?”

She bit her lip, holding back the tears she usually let flow in front of him. Instead, she just asked, “Mogan, can your people help me with something?”

Mogan texted her a number. “Call him. If you need anything while I’m not in Willow Creek, he’ll take care of it.”

He paused, then added reassuringly, “Violet, don’t do anything reckless while I’m gone. Whatever it is, wait for me to come back.”

A wave of cold emptiness washed over Violet. Amelia was truly formidable—not only had she stolen Daniel, but she’d also forced Mogan to retreat to Elm City. Now Violet was left with nothing, her hands tied, told she couldn’t even fight back.

How ridiculous.

But sometimes, when hatred reached its peak, clarity followed. Violet called the number Mogan had given her.

“I want everything you can find on Amelia and Ruby Turner. Every single detail—don’t miss anything.”

After Ruby was discharged from the hospital, she didn’t go back to preschool. Amelia insisted she stay home and rest a while longer.

The truth was, Amelia was scared. Preschools were crowded, germs spread easily, and Ruby’s health was far more fragile than most children’s. Amelia couldn’t afford to take any risks.

Ruby longed to go back—home was lonely, and nothing was as fun as preschool. But she kept her wishes to herself; she didn’t want her mom to feel guilty, so every day she put on a happy face and pretended everything was fine.

Whether Amelia noticed or not, she made sure to rush home after work and spend as much time as she could with Ruby, making up for the company her daughter missed.

The two of them developed a silent understanding, performing a little act for each other, both trying to keep the other from worrying.

Chapter 417 2

Could it really be—the dream she’d been chasing for months, year after year, was coming true?

Her heart started to race, her fingertips trembling with excitement. “Dr. Martinez… is it true? Ruby’s a match?”

Dr. Martinez smiled wide. “It’s true. You heard me right—Ruby’s got a match.”

Amelia grabbed the edge of the desk, the other hand pressed over her wildly beating heart. The feeling in her chest was unmistakably real—this wasn’t a dream.

Ruby, always the calm one, just beamed for a moment, then—with a seriousness beyond her years—asked about the surgery.

“Dr. Martinez, will it hurt a lot?”
