Logan was true to his word and stopped bothering Lisa. It was as if life had returned to the days when he was abroad.

Lisa even thought he had left the country again, until Martha called her. "Your uncle is going to announce news of him not being a Cohen this Sunday. Your grandparents haven't had much of an appetite lately. Why don't you go visit them and cheer them up? They really need your company."

Lisa felt uneasy as she listened. She couldn't understand why Logan would still want to cut ties with the Cohens.

Hadn't he already given up on his feelings for her? Why would he do this? Unless he had never wanted to be a part of the Cohen family to begin with.

"Why is he doing this?" she muttered to herself.

Martha didn't quite catch what she said. "What was that?"

"Mom, has Uncle Logan... been in the country all this time?" she asked tentatively.

"Yes, where else would he go? He's doing better here than when he was abroad. With the way things are overseas, it's not surprising that many are coming back," Martha replied. She wasn't just an ordinary middle-aged housewife—she managed her own investments and was financially savvy.

"Does he still visit Grandma and Grandpa often?" Lisa probed.

"He's been living with them and keeping them company. He says that cutting ties is just to make it clear that he's not biologically related to the Cohens. Everything else will stay the same," Martha explained with a sigh. "I really don't understand why he's doing this."

Lisa was just as baffled about what Logan was thinking. "Mom, as long as he's still good to all of you, then I guess it's fine to let him be."

"Liz, do you think he's ashamed of being a Cohen?" Martha was overcome by self-doubt.

Lisa looked up at the sky. He had given up on her yet still insisted on cutting ties with the Cohens. Maybe he was trying to spite her.

"You should talk some sense into him, but no, you just let him be. So much for growing up together." Martha started lecturing her again.
