As soon as Lisa heard Logan's voice on the phone, her eyes lit up. Since he wasn't home, she could finally visit her grandparents.
It was evening when Lisa arrived at the Cohen residence. She brought bags of health supplements and her grandparents' favorite desserts. The newly installed solar-powered lights in the small yard created a warm ambiance, making the entire area bright and cozy.
She glanced into the yard, making sure Logan's car wasn't there, before pushing open the gate.
"Grandpa, Grandma, I'm here!" she called out as she entered the house.
The lonely Alistair and Nadine looked up when they heard her voice. Even Stacy, the housekeeper, poked her head out of the kitchen, greeting her warmly. "Oh, it's Liz!"
"Stacy, please carry on with your work. Can you make an extra portion of dinner for me, please?" Lisa said casually, not the least bit reserved.
Her grandparents were surprised to see her, as she had told them she wouldn't be able to visit. "Weren't you supposed to be working?"
Lisa quickly came up with an excuse. "The baby was born early, so I was able to come after all."
"But you didn't call ahead, now we can't make meatloaf for you." Alistair couldn't shake the feeling of regret as he thought about it.
She sat down beside him, putting her arm around his. "I'm happy eating anything as long as I'm with you and Grandma."
Alistair couldn't help but complain. "Then why don't you come more often?"
Thinking of her predicament, she said, "I've been busy delivering babies. Let me tell you, Grandpa, I've delivered 1,415 babies as of today."
Nadine was amazed. "That's so many! You're truly an angel, Liz."
