"Do we need to change shoes?" A gentle female voice came from the door.

Lisa thought she was hearing things. She quickly looked up to see a tall woman in casual wear, with Logan wearing a dark coat beside her.

Both of them were standing in the entrance, so they couldn't see into the house. But Lisa, sitting on the couch, had a clear view of them.

"No need. My parents don't wear slippers at home either," he explained patiently.

Lisa seemed to be frozen in place, her mind a blank as she stared at the two people at the door.

Martha, who was in the kitchen, heard the commotion and came out. Like Lisa, she was also stunned.

Logan had brought a woman home, which was unprecedented. Its meaning couldn't be more obvious.

"Martha." He saw Martha first and called out to her, then introduced her to the woman beside him. "This is my sister, Martha Cohen."

Martha nodded repeatedly. "Hello."

The woman, probably thinking Martha was around her mother's age, seemed a bit shy to call her by name. "Hello, I'm Joelle Barlowe."

"Please come in. Make yourself at home," Martha said, gesturing toward Lisa. "Liz, your uncle brought his girlfriend home."

Lisa finally snapped out of her trance, and Logan, with Joelle by his side, walked over.

Joelle had her arm around his, looking visibly nervous and uneasy about meeting the family.

Lisa's gaze met Logan's. For a moment, she saw the same intensity and focus she had grown accustomed to. However, he only glanced at her briefly before turning his attention to Nadine and Alistair. "Mom, Dad, this is Joelle. You can call her Jojo."

They had been pressuring him to get married. Now that they saw him bringing a girlfriend home, they were over the moon. They even stopped watching the video they were engrossed in and quickly thrust the phone back to Lisa. Excited, they got up from their seats, saying, "Come here, dear! Sit over here."

There weren't many seats available on the couch, so Lisa politely got up and made room for them.
