Chapter 26
Hazel’s POV:
Dominic took a deep breath and said: “Caroline is innocent. She has a bright future ahead of her that shouldn’t be ruined by that incident. We originally planned to compensate you properly after you got out… but you’ve been antagonizing Caroline.”
Heh, finally getting to the point.
“I came today to have a proper talk with you.” He looked at me with apparent sincerity.
I gave a cold smile and said nothing. I wanted to see what nonsense he could come up with.
“Leave that man and return to Silver Moon Pack. You need to apologize to Caroline for your recent behavior. I can let bygones be bygones about everything from before.” He spoke grandly. “Whatever you want to do, we can try to accommodate. The prerequisite is–don’t conflict with Caroline anymore.”
He didn’t forget to add: “I’m not being partial. It’s just that Caroline has grown up under our watch all these years. We know how hard she’s worked. Alpha Father and Luna Mother have high hopes for her… you can’t interfere with that.”
Then he changed his tone, becoming cold and hard: “If you remain obstinate and insist on opposing her, don’t blame me for disregarding our blood relation.”
I listened with growing frustration until I couldn’t stand it anymore and directly interrupted him.
“Am I some kind of cheap person?” I sneered.
“Is acting crazy and doing whatever you want a family tradition?”
I was truly fed up.
My patience wasn’t that strong to begin with. If I hadn’t already practiced qi cultivation, I probably would have killed your whole family while in prison.
Dominic’s expression also darkened, his handsome face taking on a gloomy coldness, his tone threatening: “Hazel, don’t go too far.”
I scoffed, then stood up and with a flick of my hand, splashed the remaining half cup of hot coffee in his face.
That hypocritical face I’d grown sick of looking at was instantly drenched in coffee.
Dominic looked completely disheveled, his expression ice–cold as if about to freeze over, his eyes staring at me deadly.
“I told you, I’m an orphan, understand?”
“You all owe me, not the other way around. You wronged me, so you should have the awareness of having done wrong. You should kneel down and apologize, beg for my forgiveness. Not come in front of me acting crazy, showing off your animal–like conscience.”
I could see his fists clenched tight, his whole body restraining itself.

I slowly stepped back and curved my lips into a cold smile: “Your family better behave yourselves now and stop provoking me. Otherwise, when I’m in a bad mood someday, I’ll tell the whole pack about all the disgusting things you’ve done.”
Dominic said coldly: “You have no evidence. Even if you speak out, no one will believe you.”
His eyes were like knives: “Hazel, since we could smooth over what happened back then, we can smooth you over too.”
I grinned with mockery: “Then you all… really deserve to die.”
After saying this, I turned and left.
Feeling irritated, I was about to go home when I unexpectedly saw three familiar figures not far away.
That family of three were my former adoptive parents–the Smith family, along with their inferior morals.
They looked like they’d just come out of a shopping mall, carrying a pair of name–brand shoes worth several thousand dollars.
I stared at them coldly: “Where did they get the money?”
I knew too well–my adoptive father was a gambling alcoholic, adoptive mother Anna was lazy as a pig, spending every day either playing cards or borrowing money. Their son was even worse, a troublemaker spoiled rotten from childhood, constantly causing problems.
Last time they came asking me for money, and now they could afford such expensive shoes?
I picked up my phone and dialed Maxwell’s number.
“Help me keep an eye on the Smith family, my adoptive parents‘ group of rogue wolves. See what they’ve been up to recently.”
After hanging up, I watched their departing direction, already having a good guess-
Their money probably came from Caroline.
This could also be considered karma.
