To visit Ruth Eaton of the Mooncrown Pack, I dressed in a dark power suit and kept my makeup light.
Now I sat properly on a couch, waiting.
The Mooncrown Estate was massive. The grand living room alone had eight carved walnut doors, each guarded by a servant in a tuxedo.
I had been waiting nearly two hours. Restlessness tugged at me, but I forced myself to stay calm.
Meeting Ruth was a rare chance I had fought hard to get.
At last, someone pushed the door on the east side open.
Ruth stepped out slowly, supported by two maids.
Her silver hair was styled in an elegant bun with pearl pins. Ruth wore a burgundy velvet dress embroidered with fine detail. That outfit made her look noble and untouchable.
I quickly stood and bent at the waist.
“Good afternoon, Mrs. Eaton. I’m Ursa Pearson, Luna of the Iceclaw Pack.”
Then I pointed to the exquisite gift box on the table.
“This is a 1982 Lafite and a box of rare white truffles, treasures from my pack. I heard you haven’t been sleeping well lately, so I brought these for you.”
Ruth casually glanced at the gifts and gave a small nod.
One of the maids stepped forward, collected them, and carried them away.
She sat in the armchair with the help of her maids. After a pause, she said faintly, “That’s thoughtful of you.”
I smiled, trying to close the distance. “My pack has some old ties with yours. I wonder if you
still-”
“Ursa,” Ruth cut me off, her tone sharp but calm. “Say what you came here to say.”

My chest tightened. Clearly, she wasn’t someone who tolerated games.

I dropped the polite talk and spoke directly, “I’m here because I fear Mr. Eaton being deceived.
“You may not know this yet, but your pack recently invested eight billion dollars into the Mistbane Pack’s project. On top of that, Mr. Eaton purchased the Muses’s shop opening rights for them at a high price. Don’t you think Mr. Eaton might be under Deanna’s spell?”
I laid a folder on the table. “Here’s Deanna’s background. She’s just an ordinary Omega with no strong lineage. She was once engaged to the Olsendreich Alpha. I thought you’d want to know.”
Ruth lowered her eyes and gave the papers the briefest look.
“You seem very concerned about my pack business.”
I froze and quickly bowed my head. “No, I wouldn’t dare.”
She gave a cold smile. “My grandson has always done as he pleases. For us, whether it’s eight billion or 80 billion, we wouldn’t blink.”
“Yes, of course,” I rushed to agree.
“But didn’t you order last night’s story about Mr. Eaton at the Mistbane Mansion to be removed from the news?”
Her gaze cut toward me like a blade.
My whole body froze, and cold sweat soaked through my
shirt.
“Mrs. Eaton, I didn’t mean to dig around. Mistbane Pack stole the brand rights from my pack, so yes, we hold a grudge against them. But on the other hand, I noticed Mr. Eaton seems serious about Deanna.
“I also know that packs like yours value bloodlines more than anything. That’s why I gave you a friendly reminder.”
Ruth said nothing, only waved her hand.
Relieved, I was practically stumbling as I rushed out of the estate.
Ruth’s POV:
After Ursa left, I tightened my grip on the coffee cup.
The Blue Mountain coffee inside rippled gently.
