Chapter 105 Meeting Ruth Eaton
Deanna’s POV:
Since Violet had another event to rush to, we said goodbye quickly.
I didn’t go home right away. Instead, I went to catch a movie.
Because of this, I had put my phone on silent.

When I walked out of the theater, my phone was full of missed calls and messages from Philip and Kathryn.
Philip asked, “Deanna, not feeling well today? Why didn’t you show up at work?”
Kathryn wrote, “Deanna, move back home. I’ll make you something nice to eat.
“I was blind before. Give me another chance to love you.”
I glanced at the screen, didn’t reply, and turned it off. Then I wandered aimlessly through the mall.
If there was ever a time when I still felt tied to my family, with all the grudges and
attachments, that time was gone.
My heart had slowly grown cold.
But whether I should return to work or not–that left me torn.
The only reason I joined the company in the first place was to be closer to my parents and play the role of a good daughter.
The truth was, I never enjoyed corporate life.
What I loved was drawing. I loved designing interiors.
When I was young, Dorothy treated me with no warmth at all.
Maybe that’s why I started sketching cozy houses of every kind.
Some of those drawings even won awards.
But art lessons were expensive.

Dorothy would never have let me study.

Later, after the Mistbane Pack took me back in, I joined their company. My love for drawing got pushed aside.
Now, with disappointment piling up, the thought of becoming an interior designer came rushing back.
Still, could I really walk away from being a company director, from a six–million–dollar salary for a year, and from the 30% shares I held?
As I walked and thought, I found myself in front of a high–end men’s clothing store.
The shop assistant at the door smiled at me. “Miss, would you like to take a look? We just got many new arrivals–perfect gifts for a boyfriend.”
I stopped.
Through the glass, a blue silk tie caught my eye.
It looked just like the one Luis wore last night.
And then, without warning, an image flashed in my mind–Luis looping that tie around my wrists.
My ears burned hot at the thought.
“This tie was custom–made by artisan from Euron. It has many uses. Any man who wears it will look incredible,” she added quickly.
I bit my lip, pushed open the door, and stepped inside. “I’ll take that tie.”
Just like that, 20,000 dollars was gone.
Holding the elegantly wrapped tie box, I headed down to the underground parking lot. The elevator chimed as it reached level B2.
The moment I stepped out, two werewolves with the aura of Gammas appeared from behind the pillars. One moved to my left, the other to my right, blocking my way.
“Ms. Wiley, Mrs. Eaton would like to see you.”
The memory of that past kidnapping rushed back, and I instinctively stepped back, guarded.
“I don’t know any Mrs. Eaton.”

“It’s Mrs. Eaton of the Mooncrown Pack.”
Mooncrown Pack …
Luis’s grandmother?
The only impression I had of her was from that sharp phone call she once gave Luis.
Why would she want to see me?

Before I could think further, the Gamma guards gestured politely–but their firmness made it clear refusal wasn’t an option.
I bit my lip again but finally followed them into the car.
The vehicle drove out toward the suburbs, where traffic was scarce.
Rumors had long circulated that the Mooncrown estate covered the entire mountaintop of Northmaw.
When I saw it in person, I realized the rumors weren’t exaggerated.
When we arrived, servants had already been waiting at the entrance.
